All I’m gonna say is that in the UK, “knob” is slang for the male appendage so hearing you go on about people “preferring a thicker knob so they can grip it better” was highly amusing to my juvenile mind :D

This little trick changed my life! I was having a hard time keeping my bottom hand in place on my 2 handed backhand. This totally fixed that and now my bottom hand feels very snug and connected to the racket on the backhand. And on the forehand side it feels more snug and like I have more leverage and maneuverability. Thanks!!

Thanks for enlightening those who change their OG oncourt. I train my students to do all gear prep off-court. About the flared buttcap -- there was a time in my playing career when I used medical adhesive tape (sometimes combined with lead tape) to significantly increase the butt diameter as I preferred big butts. As I got older, my preferences changed and now I tend to prefer slimmer butts - I no longer add any tape...

Tip for long term ease: Do the start as normal ie. Wrap the folded grip tape around the base once or twice, then cut it and tape it to the racquet. Now grip over it as normal so you don't have to do the folding thing each time. Hope my explanation makes sense.
@tennnis498

That’s what I do. You can just leave a piece of old overgrip on the butt end for additional thickness. Gasquet would not approve of any of this - not good enough for him. Hey, the dude had the insight to know he needs a big “knob” for his SHBH, especially.

It's called a "FLARE" LOL And i build mine up with very narrow strips of taping tape around the but to make the flare bigger. That just stays on the grip, and you tape over it each time you replace the overgrip. Works well for me - I got the tip from my man here in Tokyo who strings my rackets and a JTA official stringer, Japan Open, etc. Will try this method too to see if it's any better.

Ed from Ottawa. I like your videos very much. Very informative, with a splash of honest humour. I was wondering if the 'wrapping direction' makes a difference, I mean, clockwise or counter clockwise (Other than the tapered part may end funny- but it will be covered by tape anyway. Speaking, of both grip and overgrip)... Maybe a left handed player prefers to wrap with a counter clockwise rotation??? .... I assumed the knobby part was there so the player would know when to grip it tighter/better the racquet won't fly out across the court.... Thanks.
