I attempted the first formula you presented, but I am getting the error #UNPARSEABLE. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. my formula is this : =SUMIFS([Grand Total $]1:[Grand Total $]9),[Budget charged]1:[Budget charged]9, "Furniture"). I cant seem to get it to return any values, any advise?

Remove the “ ) ” after the “ [Grand Total $]9 “ in your formula and see if that does it - it shouldn’t be there, only at the end.

Hi, thanks for this video! I have a question: what if the column you are interrogating contains "Principal" and "Assistant Principal"... how can I return the sum of just "Principal"? It seems to catch all.

That is a good question. I just did a test in my Smartsheet and it just pulled the ones that said "Principle" and not "Assistant Principal". Here is the Formula I used: =SUMIFS([Column12]@row, "Principle", [Column11]@row) Column11 contains "Principle" and "Assistant Principle" in the rows Column12 contains the data to sum Column13 contains the formula above. Please let me know if this helps!

How many criterias can we add in a SUMIFS formula? Can we add more than 2 ?

Yes! You can add a ton! I have personally never run into a limit and i have had some pretty big formulas with a lot of criterias. Just make sure you use =SUMIFS and not =SUMIF. I hope this helps!

hi, trying this formula to add the number of rooms booked in a day for a certain hotel but getting an error with the formula below example : =SUMIFS(=SUMIFS([20May]2:[20May]145, Hotel2:Hotel143, "Aloft") please note that the column of 20May contains value as a result of formula below =IF(AND($[Check-in]@row ([20May MON £00]$1)), 1, " ")

it could be because you have 2 "=SUMIFS(" back to back with each other. Also if you want could you email me a screen shot of the section of your Sheet where this formula lives? justin@workflowmyworkload.com

Also if your column "20May" is a Date column it will not add them. You would just need a "=COUNTIFS(" formula to count the Range "Hotel2:Hotel143" that contain "Aloft" in it.
