Hello, I already have column set up with numbers. When using forms they select that column and the number but it doesn’t populate to that line it goes on a new line instead. Is there a way to fix this?

Each form submission creates a new row. If the same row just kept getting updated it would erase the previous answer. Hi Justin, question: would it be easier to create three separate forms for three separate inspection visits for the same employee? - visit 1 (Date), field criteria - visit 2 (Date), same field criteria just associated with visit 2 - visit 3 (Date), same field criteria as visit 1 and 2 I would like the responses to live on one sheet. Yes! You could definitely do that. Another option, if you’d rather have all 3 on one row, is to have visit 1 be a form, but visit 2 and 3 would be status updates on that row. Here is a video I made on Status Updates: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIDLipp8jqqtkNE

Your videos are so helpful! I have been struggling to figure out how to create a revise and approve loop using workflows. Essentially, I want the approver to keep seeing revision submissions until it is approval-worthy. Neither the submitter (via a form) nor the approver can access the sheet, just the emailed request screens. I, as sheet owner, would only be contacted once the row is approved. Parts of the automation are easy, but often I end up crashing the workflow with an infinite loop or multiple approval or revision requests happening simultaneously. HELP!

Hello thank you for all your guides, is there anyway I can create a form/ file to share to our collaborators so they can check their info?... for example if they introduce their employee ID; the the form/file can show them all their information (area, shift, manager) only as a viewer?

Yes! In the form, in the “helper text” in a field, you can actually add links. Create a Report with filter “current User” so anyone who logs in can only see what they are assigned to (aka their id number). Then take the URL link of that Report and paste it as a hyperlink in the form “helper text” field. I hope this helps!

Hi Justin your videos were really really helpful for me. I have a doubt, I Gantt view there is dotted line indicating Today (current day). Can we format that line to something like a bold line with colour, while making reports with Gantt view?

Hi! Smartsheet just came out with another view called "Timeline" that visualizes a more clean and more clear view than Gantt view. You will need to have a Business plan or Enterprise plan to view it and it is currently only for sheets not Reports. I believe in the future they will make it for Reports as well. Buddy do you have a solution for selecting drop down list in a coloumn of a sheet from a source sheet. Once the source sheet is updated the drop down in the destination sheet should also be updated. I was looking at Cheetah Apps but im sure it will come for an additional monthly subscription which I want to avoid. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Hey! there are 2 ways to go about this within Smartsheet, and they both require a Smartsheet premium app: Smartsheet DataShuttle or Smartsheet Bridge. Check with your existing Smartsheet plan to see if you already have one of these, and if so, I would start with Smartsheet DataShuttle. (Bridge is great but way more complex as it is their open API app). Have an excel sheet that houses your column(s) with the most up to date information, and then set up Smartsheet DataShuttle to have that excel sheet update automatically your Smartsheet column dropdown list. I attempted the first formula you presented, but I am getting the error #UNPARSEABLE. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. my formula is this : =SUMIFS([Grand Total $]1:[Grand Total $]9),[Budget charged]1:[Budget charged]9, "Furniture"). I cant seem to get it to return any values, any advise?

Remove the “ ) ” after the “ [Grand Total $]9 “ in your formula and see if that does it - it shouldn’t be there, only at the end.

COLLECT is good for grabbing data based on multiple criterions, MATCH is good for grabbing data based on just 1 criteria. I prefer COLLECT in most instances.

it could be because you have 2 "=SUMIFS(" back to back with each other. Also if you want could you email me a screen shot of the section of your Sheet where this formula lives? [email protected]

Also if your column "20May" is a Date column it will not add them. You would just need a "=COUNTIFS(" formula to count the Range "Hotel2:Hotel143" that contain "Aloft" in it.

Hey! A graph can either be built off of 1 sheet, or 1 Report, but a Report can house multiple sheets. So if you are needing a graph to pull from multiple sheets I would have those sheets live in 1 Report and then build your graph off that Report. Or you could build out a metric sheet (which I prefer) that pulls in the data from 2+ other sheets through cross sheet formulas and then build your Graph off of that.

I will admit I was leaning more towards Smartsheet simply because it’s a project management tool, which my career uses everyday. Excel is used more to hold large amounts of data which you can build pivots, tables, etc off of. Smartsheet is used for project management in spreadsheet form as well but also has the communication aspect and automations with it. Both tools have their place, it depends on what you really need it for.

In the form edit mode, when you click on a text field, the panel on the right of your screen should have an option (about half way down) to choose “Multi text which will enlarge your text box on the form. You can then update the space number right below that option from 3 to a higher number to make the box even larger
