Please do busses next, I'm terrified of them :D
@MrNgMichael2 ай бұрын
they're not that scary, just not as on time as busses. Google maps can show you the bus route should you need to rode one. Depending on the city, some busses you pay entering while some you pay as you exit. Although I wouldn't carry luggage on a city bus.

Does Go app require a japanese phone number? Or can I just use it with data
@landonic8118 күн бұрын
I downloaded the GO Taxi app but it wont accept any of my credit cards in the payment section. Is this a known issue? Please help

I’m from UK and unable to register GO app because it requires a Japanese phone number. Is there a SIM card with a phone number sold in Tokyo airport? How much does it cost? I’ll be in Japan for a month next spring.
@TheSweetvyc9 күн бұрын
I'm American with a US phone number and I was able to do it. When I downloaded it it said that it "now accepts international phone numbers", like it's something new they started... but I just signed up without any issue
@bingshen49129 күн бұрын
@@TheSweetvyc many thanks, just tried again with my UK number and it says it’s only available in Japan and try again when you’re physically in Japan. It seems to detect the location even before sign-in. Hopefully it’ll work when I arrive in Japan next spring.

I think they updated it. I just registered with my USA phone and USA visa credit card with no problem

We just used it with our American phone number and had no problems. It works the same way as Uber and is in English as well.

Does GO work for tourists? We tried that last March, and it was asking for a Japanese mobile number.

The requirement for a Japanese phone number was abolished in the meantime, and you can also register with an overseas number.

in july 24, I successfully used Go App in Tokyo with a roaming Sim mobile, it sent a confirmation 6 digit password SMS to my original mobile no in my home country and I could type in the App prompt immediately so as to activate the account. I didn't leave any Visa Card info but pay by cash every journey. Hope it helps.

Country side and small cities yes, Tokyo, NO. They tried to rip me off during the day by taking the long way twice until I began speaking Japanese to them. Then, when I asked for their business card they just let me off the cab and drove off.

I feel like this video is luring people into trusting taxis will be readily available in the countryside, and can be always be hailed through the GO app. Neither is true. It can be very hard to find a taxi in the countryside and they often call it a day even before the last train arrives in their town. And the GO app doesn't serve all areas. Although they claim to serve 45 of the 47 prefectures, in Shikoku (for which they say all 4 prefectures are served) it told me I'm out of the services area everywhere, even in central Takamatsu which has plenty of taxis.
