You have no idea on just how much this video means to me. I have been searching for one like this for what seemed like an eternity! I've recorded 3 full length albums.. and 4 EPs so far in my short career.. Out of all of those musicians.. only one could actually play to a click. So I've had to deal with this scenario a lot.. Thank you so much for this!

So, does this method help you? Cause I tried it just to find out quickly, that when it detects tempo it does not cound anything below 1/4, so as triplets. And after tempo detection you still have to do everything manually, which takes really long time, so it is really easier and quicker to do standart slice quantization in quantize pannel.

Greg this video will save me a lot of time in the futur. I used Cubase for backing guitar track with my band. I usually load the original song into a WAVE tack. Then I adjust the clic with the TEMPO Track manually (because I don't have tempo detection feature). With the help of "SET DEFINITION FROM TEMPO" I will be able to save the tempo IN the WAV. Then normalize and change the tempo to a fixe tempo. That way my drummer will be able to follow the click easily during live performances.

Great explanation Greg Ondo.i like the all Q&A series Can you make part 2 for tempo detection for more complex material? for example when there is a message from cubase"multiple tempos were detected in selected event" how can we proceed from there to analyze the all events tempos. i know its possible somehow but its more complicated and a video demo will help. Thanks

Ok warping free jazz makes only sense if the band wants it to be "corrected" or if you want to change the arrangement in the end. Auto-click to a detected beat is definitely helpul for many users!

Does signature track editing work the same way in 10.5? Seems like a very straight forward function but I cannot insert a time signature event at the location I want to start a new beat. I'm guessing there are rules that control where events can be added but I can't see what it is that prevents me from doing this.

Hi Greg, I really need help syncing music to Film. I have struggled to use the Time Warp tool. Are there any comprehensive tutorials, for free or purchase, that can help me with this? I see that you are just syncing Audio. Maybe one of my problems is trying to use the TW tool with midi? Should I mix down all tracks to audio and then use the TW tool to tweak hitpoints? Many thanks, Jeff

when you do this does Cubase automatically snap the audio to the grid? for example if I record a song at 120 and want to edit and decide to cut at bar/beat 75 and 78 and i delete 75-78, my project is in perfect sync on the 1 because I recorded to the click within the project, I just cut out and extra verse lets say. Ive recorded a drummer for example that played to an external click and the tempo wasn't set in the project or whatever the reason, does this procedure snap the audio and the grid together making those edits simple and easy as if the project is all midi in a sense, like when you record with the click initially? I see you can time stretch nicely, but you didn't mention edits so I am curious...thanks for the video also

I followed everything up until the actual stretching of the audio via the tempo track and received this message: “Realtime Algorithm has been deactivated because pitch or stretch factor lies outside the limits of the current preset”. I tried changing options in my Audio Editing preferences still with no luck. Any help is appreciated thank you.

For music which doesn't have an obvious rhythm track (e.g. classical orchestral) I presume there is nothing to stop you from creating your own click track after the live event by recording a tap for every beat and then tempo detection analyse on that instead, then continuing as per the rest of your video.

3:39 for me the audio never embeds into the audio files. If I import into another session it is not aware of the tempo changes, I have a drum loop that increases tempo that is completely mapped to the tempo change but when I import the audio file that I "Write Definition to Audio Files" it has no awareness of the tempo in the file. I even "Set Tempo From Event" in the new session and it doesn't follow the embedded tempo info.

This is pretty awesome. What happens when the tempo detector misses an a few bars? I tried this with a recording and the tempo was almost always correct, but it definitely missed a couple bars and I'm wondering what the best way is to adjust those couple bars while keeping the rest of the changes that the detection created. Also, the Tempo detector created a couple of measures before I wanted them created. Therefore, my project is now starting on bar three when I want it to start on one (where it was before). Any ideas?

open the tempo editor, using the shortcut ctrl+T or cmd+T, there is a bar function at the top of the window in the far right of the middle section. You can add or remove bars there, without having to move your audio files.

I have an orchestral cue which I imported in my project to serve as a guide track, I tried detecting the tempo as shown in this and other Cubase videos, but I get an error message that multiple tempos have been detected in the selected event and it does not calculate or create a tempo map at all. It also tells me to apply the smooth tempo function if the tempo is assumed to be constant, which I am sure it isn't in an orchestral cue. That is why I wanted to analyze the track in the first place so I can see how the tempo varies and follow along with it. Do you have any suggestions on the situation?

Hi, I seem to be experiencing trouble with importing already recorded external audio tracks. I was (when first using the system) able to drag and drop audio from other software, but, (for a mysterious reason) it stopped working. Once I had decided this function was no longer going to work again it was then, when importing, that the imported track began being set at a faster pace in Cubase than before imported. This has happened time and again since it first (mysteriously) began happening. I have gone over the settings and everything seems set to work as normally should. In need of instruction. Thanks for listening Doctor Cubase. p.s. this alternation of my settings occurs often.

this is prob not the reaon, but if the sample rate of the project is different than the file it wont sound correct...fast or slow. Typically when I use the file menu to "import" a file it asks if I want to convert the file to the project sample rate and all good. You prob already know that, but its happened to me so I thought I would say it anyway

This does not match the behavior I'm experiencing. When I attempt to move a bar line to the audio, the bar line snaps back to the detected-yet-incorrect position. THEN it screws up a bunch of beats following that on the time line. This is what happens EVERY time to me, I watch these videos and the behavior and warp movements don't at all match what I'm experiencing across three different versions of this software.
