The motor underneath lets off a slight smell and it's a little loud kzbin.infoUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq but considering it's size and how hard it works to do the job, it's sort of expected. I assume the smell will go away over time. Overall, I love this cute little blender. The extra cups and lids are great too!

Does this pasta machine attachment only work with the shown 'Artisan Design' Kitchen Aid mixer? My Kitchen Aid mixer has the mentioned "hub" but isn't Artisan Design - thanks!
@kitchenaid8 ай бұрын
Hi, KitchenAid stand mixers have a universal power hub, which means that all attachments that go into the power hub will fit all stand mixers, regardless of age. Printed on the box of each KitchenAid attachment are the words, "Fits all KitchenAid Stand Mixers." We hope this helps.

do not wet your cutter! Pasta should be dusted with flour to go through the machine...after you are finished use a bristle pastry brush to clean off your rollers of any excess dough/flour.
@cachi-78782 жыл бұрын
The main attachment says do not immerse and the manual says do not wash in dishwasher but they mention nowhere whether you can rinse off directly from the kitchen faucet. Why is KitchenAid so ambiguous?

@@kitchenaid thank you for replying. I followed the link and the instructions are exactly the same as those found in the user’s manual. It appears KitchenAid prefers the user not to pour water over these attachments and just let them dry, brush the excess flour, polish off and store. “Hand wash” seems to mean the above. Since this is Italian-made, I wanted to make sure nothing was lost in translation. Please let me know if my interpretation is correct in that pouring water over these attachments is not recommended.

The same happened to me. Start with the first flattening (widest setting). Then feeding it through at a thinner setting, make it thinner with each pass, etc. Once it is the final thickness you want it, swap in the cutting attachment. Try to feel the amount of moisture in the dough, “use the Force Luke.” Let the thin flat dough rest for ten minutes before cutting it into strands: Use that time to lightly flour the flat dough sheet one more time before you send it through the cutter.

Hello Carole. Thank you for reaching out to us. We would recommend that you add more flour to the dough to help with the concern you are experiencing. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

@@kitchenaid Same issue for me. First spaghetti cutter broke after one use. Second time, I got almost a full batch through and then it jammed again. The plastic piece on the bottom broke off again. Piece of junk. What good is it to have a stainless steel cutter with plastic parts that will just break like that. So upset.

Of all the tools in my kitchen, this is one (of around five) I would NOT want to be without. The price is steep, so if you only want the roller, or maybe the roller and small cutter? You can find them used on the standard online sites for a fraction of what they want new.

@@hanouf679 I've never made ravioli (or any other 'shaped' pasta), but I think it's the same thickness as fettuccine. I roll it down to number '4'. This works perfect for everything from thin spaghetti to lasagna sheets. Here's an extra tip: After you cut the pasta, to avoid it sticking together, don't dust it in wheat flour. Instead use semolina, corn starch or rice flour. When you use wheat flour it will soak back into your dough. The longer before you cook it, the more sticky it will get.

My first attempt today to make homemade spaghetti. Everything was working beAItiffuly until I changed the roller to the spaghetti cutter. My dough was well floured but it was clumping up real bad on the exit of the roller. Went in fine but it cooled and all the dough got stuck together while coming out the bottom of the roller. I floured the rollers as well as the pasta before rolling. I wound up throwing it all away 😩
@judypasqualone3819 Жыл бұрын
I just got mine the other day. I’m afraid that will happen to me. But I figure all I’ll waste is flour and eggs so I’ll keep practicing. Some say sprinkle a little flower in the attachment others don’t. Some say never rinse…others say quickly immerse in soapy water and rinse and dry thoroughly. So I think we just have to keep at it & see what works for us. Trying to not let it intimidate me..😀 I guess one thing is don’t fool with dough too much before sliding through the pasta press. Let me know if you try it again. 👍🏻
@imvernsgal Жыл бұрын
@@judypasqualone3819 My rollers have a large sticker on them saying not to rinse. Also I did put flour in/on the rollers before. Also I floured each dough prior to inserting into the rollers. I’m sure it had something to do with my dough although I thought I did everything right. I’ll try again but I’m not gonna lie… it was very disappointing. Took a long time and effort to get to the point of failure 😩

@@imvernsgal I saw that on KZbin about the rinsing in soapy water. But I’m not going to…I think the brushing will be enough. Very unhygienic attachment it has so many places where salmonella can thrive, This is 100% unsafe and will make customers sick how did you even get a permit to sell such attachments, you need to redesign this on the lines of the new all metal meat mincer which can be washed thoroughly.
@MuscLA5 жыл бұрын
This is for pasta, not meat, so there's no risk of salmonella contamination if using for its intended purpose. Pasta makers of all types have used this type of design and been sold for at least 50 years.
@elisaarrigoni6164 жыл бұрын
My mother uses the pasta maker since I can remember, and now I use it too. Not once we got sick, you don't have to flat chicken or fish, just dough, so really no salmonella risk.
