How to shift your Vilano Tuono or Aluminum Road Bike

These shifters are for 2X7 systems. The left one is not indexed and that is the mistake and many use them in 3x7 systems like the guy at the video which he does not seem to know from bicycles. If you use the set in 2X7 it works normally and without exerting much pressure on the levers. This is a very very very entry level but it works!!!! Look at these bikes : Leader Runner 1.0 and KCP Slim. These are cheap entry level bikes with this set

I may sound crazy but I like this over my shimano sora shifters. I hate having to blindly shift each index one at a time with my shimano sora. It's so damn SLOW to shift one gear at a time with my finger But with this, I just slap my palm onto it, and I can see exactly the gear I'm shifting to and BAM, instant shift. Of course, my balance is very good so I never have to worry about twisting with one arm.

Can you swap these A050 to A070 shifters?
@ministryoftruth85885 жыл бұрын
I think these shifters are pretty cool, alot simpler and less expensive than STI brifters. However I imagine they get in the way of trying to mount a bike computer and headlight.
@VilanoBikes5 жыл бұрын
You can get a stem cap mount which would solve that for you.

How easy would it be to change over to and STI shifter? (Cost, Time, etc..)
@VilanoBikes5 жыл бұрын
It would take a good amount of work, and STI shifters are fairly expensive. The time would vary based on your skill set so I cannot estimate this for you. If you wanted to do this, I'd suggest finding a local bike shop that can help you or a co-op bike repair location for teaching, tools, etc. If you decide to make the switch, do be careful and have a bike shop perform a safety inspection prior to use and again regularly to ensure your bike is safe to use.

I don't have the money to buy STI shifters so I bought em cheap thumb shifters. I like how smooth the gears change when it's tuned and I think the shifters are originally for 2x7 setup but is it okay tp use a 3x crank?
@VilanoBikes3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do that. Make sure it's tuned properly and have a bike mechanic perform a safety inspection prior to use.
@ahmadabdulwahid91485 ай бұрын
I agree. And that is why he said to shifting left smoothly, to feel the gears changing
@davey15776 жыл бұрын
I got a bike with these shifters, and they really are inconvenient. Having to take a hand away from the handlebars, the eyesight focused on the shifters, and the pressure needed to change the gears always results in an inadvertent swerve of the bike and a momentarily lack of control. They sound nice when clicking through gears though.
@VilanoBikes6 жыл бұрын
They are basic shifters. I've used them for a while and I can shift without taking my eyes from the road. That will always be the safest thing to so. I suggest you try to shift while the bike is on a stand to get the hang of it. Thank you for watching our video.
@edwardkerrigan53564 жыл бұрын
You just need to practice a bit more - I don't have any trouble with them and find that I can actually change gears much faster than with brifters.
@soundedit2 жыл бұрын
Old but helpful video! These shifters look applicable for a short handlebar (40 cm or less than 50 cm) or a long curved handlebar. Now I'm using this arrangment, left grip - left shifter - left brake lever - stem - right brake lever - right shifter - right grip. With these shifters, I will use the following arrangement in the future, left grip - left brake lever - left shifter - stem - right shifter - right brake lever - right grip.

Hello from Indonesia 🙏🏼, currently i have shimano altus with 8 gear, is this shifter compatible with my RD and sprocket? Its okay that the highest gear cannot be use, remember that the number of shifter only up to 7. So the question is, does this shifter can be use on my bike? Thank you before
@soundedit2 жыл бұрын
It looks possible. The highest gear can be selected not to use or the lowest gear can be selected not to use. The high and low limiting screws can be used for this purpose with the tension screw. If the cable is loose then the lowest gear or lower gears cannot be used.

I have these on my road bike, they're really wacky. the front derailleur shifter is absolutely terrible, though, so much travel just to move between two chainrings. you do lose a lot of space on the bars to mount other things, though. one good thing is that it gets you out of the 'aero' position and the 'aero' roadie high speed mentality unlike STI shifters, because with these you just can't shift when you're down on the bars!
@VilanoBikes3 жыл бұрын
They work well once the bike is tuned, and you may want to reach out to your local bike mechanic for help with tuning. Tri bars are indeed hard to mount with these shifters. You can also upgrade them to STI. A bike shop can do this, but it is expensive.
@vidiia2 жыл бұрын
@@VilanoBikes Oh, I remember writing this comment! A year later and I've gotten very used to them, but I'm more of a one-chain-ring guy so I never use the front shifter (maybe because it's so annoying). The front shifter has so much more travel/effort than it needs even after dialing it in like I see you said, compared to a trigger shifter or a brifter. Definitely unique, though. I quite like how ergonomic the rear shifter is - I can use my whole palm to shift.

I've been puted the rubber on each clamps. It gives resistance when shifting. fd sora 3400 needs little bit power on thumb than the rd

Idk it may be only mine, but I had a bad experience with these shifters, bro at first it was hard af and after a while it was so hard it used to go around the bar when I when I went up to low gears
@VilanoBikes Жыл бұрын
That's not something I've heard of before. We don't suggest riding the bike in that condition, and urge you to not ride it, take it to a bike shop for assistance.
@terrys63954 ай бұрын
Sadly have a set. They’re designed to be palm shifted, not finger. Rest your whole palm in the centre of the shifter and then select with a hand movement. Not so bad. But landscape intensive.
