That is the Sonic function. It's used to tighten and tone and the tingling sensation is working out your muscles. If you don't like this setting you can use Galvanic Ion without it.

Positive Ion is used for deep cleansing and Negative Ion is for product penetration. Negative Galvanic Ion helps penetrate products up to 60% deeper.
