I have this same press and love it (except the lack of on/off switch). I just discovered that it is fantastic for cooking crispy bacon - no splatters and easy cleanup. Use the feet in position where the grease will drain into tray, lowest heat setting (bacon still cooks amazingly fast) and closest position so the top plate comes right down on the bacon.

You didn't toast the inside sides of the bread. This is something I've always done for grilled cheese and similar sandwiches. It makes it even tastier, as there's more grilled bread surface. With a panini press, you can put both pieces of bread in together, stacked. After they're toasted, take them out and put your sandwich ingredients on the toasted surface, add the other slice of bread, toasted side down. Now you have two untoasted sides out and can grill the sandwich. Voilà!

I have this panini press, what would have been cool would have been an on and off button. That way I wouldn't have to yank it out of the wall with big sparks just to turn it off. I mean, really?

LOL..True, but you can get a plug-in ac outlet adapter with on/off switch for about $10.

A: An on/off button is just another thing to break/stop working. Then you have an unusable hunk-of-junk and... 2: Who the fudge unplugs a device by yanking on the cord??? Didn’t they teach you nothing in 1st grade??? No wonder you get sparks and... Another Thing: If you’re getting sparks when you pull a plug out of an outlet you’ve got bigger problems than no power button on your panini press. You need to call an electrician before your house burns down.

@@franklinwall5378 An off on button is a safety feature. And you can buy 10 of them for $5. If you toss something out because one part you can fix broke, you're not being economically smart. "Didnt they teach you nothing"- pretty bold statement considering you're bashing someone's education. For the record on that, nobody gets taught how to properly plug in appliances in 1st grade. Unless that's what you think tax money is going to, I'm which case I suggest you go back and take a look at how the system is working. Maybe you'll pick up something, even with that thick skull of yours. And to cover your last point, sparks arent just caused by faulty wiring. Inductors push through current when you unplug something, which causes the sparks. This a reason the off switch exists, to prevent sparking. Didnt they teach you anything in 1st grade? Or in high school? Or did you not pass those?
