Have you set the Heading Bug on the compass? It's the little red thing and is adjusted by a little dial below to the right I think. It has the red heading bug and HDG underneath it. Also, make sure you've set the autopilot to heading mode (HDG) and not GPS/VOR navigation (NAV).
