The edge foot is a very useful attachment. This video shows just a few of the ways in which it can be used.

Wow! I had no idea. What a wonderful foot that is. I love your videos. I have my Mom's old 66 treadle, a Featherweight, a 15-91 and a 99K I hope some day to get my hands on a 99K hand crank. There's a soft spot in my heart for these faithful old girls. They'll run forever with very just a little love.

I am sure youtube can read my mind: I was just wondering today about the best way of attaching two pieces of material and then this excellent video pops up in the side bar. Thanks for the great explanation.

Thank you for your video. I bought a vintage machine that I’m in love with but I’m lost as to what to do with the large amount of unusual looking accessories that came with it. This was very helpful and appreciated.

Hi! Thank You for the amazing info on this *Edge* *Stitching* Foot! I had been doing this type of stitching by eyeball and a steady hand up to this point. Looks like I may have to keep doing it that way thru super *wavy* *curves* or attempting to *miter* a corner. I see your Sewing Foot and Vintage Machine are of the *Short* *Shank* variety. I'll be hunting for a *Tall* *Shank* version of this Edge Foot for an old Japanese Dressmaker Machine. Cheers!

Lizzie, thank you so much for this video! I have got my Singer 201 all ready to go and have been mystified at the box of feet it came with. After learning to sew on a relatively terrible (and ill maintained) machine, I just figured that to get even a good straight line of stitches it took a lot of practice and patience. Well I could not have been more wrong, as I have learned with the unbeatable old Singer. You have me so excited at all the things I can do with the edge foot... I kept saying, "WHAT? I can do this too?" while watching this video. And it looks so easy!

I'm identifying the different foot attachments that came with my 201k3.. These machines really were made for a different era of fashion. And how lovely that ribbon detail would look on the lapel of a ladies coat! Marvelous video, thank you for uploading! :)

Hello, guess I'm late in seeing this, but I would like to thank you very much. I recently purchased 32 different feet for my sewing machine and am now learning how to use each one. This was very helpful, for the simple reason, I knew nothing about this method of embellishments. Thanks again for being there for us.

Wow! This little gem of a foot came with my Singer 99k. I can’t wait to try it now that i know what I can do with it! Is there a way to switch the orientation of the bulk of the fabric to the left of the needle for attaching the lace to the edge of bulkier items, such as curtains?

I just come across this great video explaining this foot, BUT, I have a question can this foot be used to sew elastic on the fabric and if so how is this done... Thanks for your time and hope to get a reply or video showing...

That is what I thought it is made for. A few months ago I bought a similar looking clip on foot to attach elastic, that looks very similar, but it came without instructions. Recently, I bought a Singer 201 k electric and a 99 k hand crank , with the attachments. They are all interesting looking feet. Also got a buttonhole, but am to chicken to use it.

A lot of them have sort of an accessory attachment that actually attaches to the presser bar with the screw, then the accessory feet like this edging foot, or a hemming foot, etc., attach to that instead of directly to the presser bar...if that makes any sense. 😬
