Thanks for a clear, useful tutorial with no padding!

Confusing, yes, but you helped a lot with this video. I find several key things about Gutenberg are confusing, or at least not intuitive.

Thanks. How did you change the background color of the editor? I'm having all sorts of trouble as my site has a dark background and the editor doesn't show this so I can't read my light-colored text.

The styling in the Gutenberg editor is inherited from your active theme. If the contrast between text and background is too low, I would check your site and see if your posts look the same. If so, you may be able to change the background or text color in the Theme Customizer. It really depends on what theme you're using.

@@KirkBiglione Thank you so much for your reply. I am using the Total theme. I have all the colour set right in the Theme Customiser but only the text color (off-white) comes through to the editor, not the background color (off-black) meaning I can hardly see the text.

Excuse me sir, which version of Gutenberg are you used for this tutorial? My version don't looks like this. Thanks!
@KirkBiglione4 жыл бұрын
Gutenberg inherits the style of your theme, so your version might look quite different.

doesn't work for me in v5.4
@KirkBiglione4 жыл бұрын
I just tested this in 5.4, it does still work. One thing has changed though. When selecting a nested block you no longer see the offset frame indicating the block is contained by the group block. That's too bad as it makes groups even harder to use and more confusing.

@@KirkBiglione Actually, you are right.. It does work, without any graphical indicator. This is more than confusing, this is unpractical

Even more confusing than you thought... In 5.4 you can use the "select tool" or click on the breadcrumbs at the bottom of the page: ref. github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/20453

These drived me crazy. After a add a block inside the Group, the group just vanish! This should be easy, why wordpress has to make thing so complicated. I hate the new editor.

hi, you have to deactivate gutenberg plugin in order to group blocks work properly!

@@enkee03 Hi Enrique, I'm also having the same issue - the Group block just disappears and I dont have the gutenberg plugin. Any suggestions?

I am not sure if this page is going to help, but my own problem was to group existing blocks and this method was not working, so I found this page wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/group-block/ and that helped (selecting both blocks by highlighting them together, and then choosing "group". Not sure of the English wording as I have a French version).
