I have been using the PH-80 since the very first model, it's one of the best PH pens in the industry. The key to making it last and provide you with accurate readings is to properly store the probe inside KcI probe storage solution, always rinse and carefully clean probe after each use, and properly calibrate it with the calibration solution in the same temperature range as the regimens being monitored.(both 7.0 and 4.0). My only complaint is that H/M Digital doesn't offer a PH-80 suction cup clamp, that way you can constantly monitor the feed regimens or water. I currently use an aquarium heater probe clamp, but it doesn't have a exact fit. So all you engineers at H/M Digital, can you please design a clamp so we can stick the PH-80 to the inside of a bucket. 🪣 (you don't have to cut me a royalty check for this awesome idea, but a new PH-80 pen and clamp would be nice.) 😎

Hi The calibration solution may be 4.01-7.01?
@the_gold_canopy5 ай бұрын
@@foxypiks2162 Both. You have to calibrate both scales. Whether you use 4.0 or 7.0 scale. Although I set it to measure 7.0, every once in a while i calibrate both.

@@the_gold_canopy ok, so you can use buffer 4.01 :) Currently, I bought 3 sachets for testing, the original 7.0. I think that's enough for now, best regards

@@foxypiks2162 Every PH-80 comes with both a 4.0 packet, and a 7.0 packet of solution, 1 each. Pour 4.0 into a small cup/container (I like to use a 30ml cup, filled at 15ml). Set pen to 4.0 and then calibrate. Same step for 7.0, but keep it on the 7.0 scale. Better for measuring nutrients. I normally need to get my feedings to 6.4 (veg) and 6.6-6.7 (bloom).

@@the_gold_canopy Okay, thank you very much for the tip

so do you have to calibrate it before you ise it? whats the ph buffer solution for?
@robertgibson26226 ай бұрын
why does it say on the directions that before using you must wet the sensor with the electrode solution for atleast 15 minutes???

You need to keep the bulb wet. If you let the sensors dry out, they will give false readings. Here's a tip: To maintain and calibrate properly, you will need Kci probe storage solution, 4.0 solution, and 7.0 solution. When you store your probe when not in use, add enough to the pen cap to submerge the sensors bulb, but not too much to where it leaks. Proper storage and proper calibration with the PH-80 is critical. As long as you properly maintain it, it will last up to 7 years. I always like to clean it once a month, just water, luke warm. Another great tip is to make sure your calibration solution and whatever liquid you are monitoring are within the same temperature range. For example, my feed regimens are mixed in a 3 gallon bucket, and my tap water (50/50 hot/cold) is normally 76F, so I make sure my calibration solution is around the same temp during calibration. Hope these tips help.
