Well i got the iphone 16, i was wondering about the island , im 73 and used to be pretty good with tech for my age. The island does come in handy . I like it. Thanks for the tips. I bought lock launcher pro but when I go to settings and then go to Live Activities, the push switch to turn it on is past the right hand side of my screen so I can’t reach it. I tried swiping it to get it to move to the left so I could get to the switch but it won’t move. The writing for that line is off my screen to the left and right. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Nice explanation. It should also be mentioned that most of the apps that show in the dynamic island will also show on the lock screen. It's particularly awesome when say, there are 2 or 3 sports games you want to follow at the same time. They're bigger on the lock screen and show more detail. It's also great for things like Ubers or food deliveries. Anyway, nice video.

All good points! You know, I knew those things but just didn't mention them. I always struggle trying to keep the video not too long, share helpful tips, make it easy and then bring it to an end. What I wish is had more folks like you I could run my ideas by and get feedback before I make a video. But right now, I'm just a one-man show. Anyway, thanks so much for watching!

Well, I add the sports app- great app for sure! But for some mysterious reason I could not get the Dynamic Island feature to work with this app. I have an iPhone 15 pro and I know that the dynamic Island feature works as it shows incoming phone calls as you demonstrated in the video. I did set the app to allow live activities but even though the app is showing the updated scores it is not showing them in the Dynamic Island. I even rebooted the phone. Darn.....

I think you have to piskout your favorite teams within the Sports app. Once you followed those teams in the app, their scores show up in Dynamic Island. Hope this helps!

Sometimes the Dynamic Island obscures a full-screen streaming show like on Apple TV (!). There is supposed to be a way to make the Dynamic Island disappear by holding your finger on it, but I haven’t gotten it to work.

You can dismiss the notification by sliding left or right across the dynamic island. But the actual pill shape of the island does not disappear since there's a camera and sensors behind it.

You know, I try to do videos that apply to as many people as possible. But I knew dynamic island was not going to be one of those videos. Still I thought it might be helpful. You might be glad to know the next time you're in the market for a new phone the upcoming iPhone SE is rumored to have Dynamic Island. So Apple's least-expensive iPhone will join all the others for the most part regarding features.

Well, no not really. You can swipe left to right to dismiss the notification. But as soon as a new trigger occurs it's right back. Is it too intrusive for you? I'd like to know your thoughts. Thanks for watching.

@ I don’t like: - the small size - not knowing anything about it; it just showed up one day - it throws me for a loop when it does show up for phone calls. Why every now and then, not every call?

Doesn’t the incoming call parameter of the phone app have to be set to banner for calls to show up in the Dynamic Island? Mine is set to full screen so I never see calls in the Dynamic Island.

????? Rich, I'm really confused. I have a 14plus and don't have the "island" shaped deal at the top of my screen but the other you showed. I installed the sports app you used to test what you were talking about. In setting of that app I have the "allow live activities" option. Anyway, I tried all the things you showed and indeed was able to do the same with out an "island" shaped thing at the top and also do it on a phone that is not a 14pro and above.

Also, I get the notification like you showed with voice memos and the phone and music function that I can long tap to get to full screen or control. They show in the same area as your dynamic island is showing. Not sure if the island has anything to do with it.

Yes. You need an iPhone 14 Pro or newer to have Dynamic Island. The iPhone SE is a model older than the 14 Pro (even though it's still sold at Apple today!) Rumors are that the upcoming iPhone SE may have Dynamic Island.
