You said it- assume! Being able to imagine the feeling of the wish fulfilled doesn't demand a thorough evaluation of whether this feeling unknown to you is realistic or not. You not knowing about it wouldn't matter... but really, you do already know. You've imagined it as you have envied others, you've longed for it in times of weakness, you have yearned for it in your dreams... The feeling has manifested itself in you in those times- you have unconsciously or subconsciously assumed the state. The concept taught here is something that you know to be true already!
