How To Use The Load Shelf On Stone Glacier Packs

I've been using the Sky Talus 6900 for over a year now, and love it! I've hauled a few Elk with it last season, and packed it on a 10 day sheep hunt, and I honestly thought that I knew all I needed to know, until I watched this video. I just never thought to use the load lifter straps attached to the load shelf, and yet it makes such good sense! What a great way to keep the heaviest part of load as high as possible on the pack. Thanks for the tip!

I bought the krux evo frame and a sky archer 6200 bag..love the layout and how small they can get or how blown out they can also get..most I’ve spent on a single item.. but for what it is..no question..

Would be awesome just to see my brother have an opportunity, help him out and see some beautiful country. Yea i like to ask something, I would like to hunt with frame only, so can you singe the load from the sides with out the main bag? Do you have belt side pockets accessories for knifes and food bars etc.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but in the dark when your hands are freezing and you're using a headlamp... this isn't the easiest process to figure out with all the straps.

I just picked up a 40/56 and went to disconnecting and loosening straps. Looks like a jigsaw puzzle on my kitchen table now. Do the two diagonally oriented straps that attach the load shelf cross when they attach to the pack, or do they go straight up? Thanks for the info.

Great video! Is it possible to drop the pack bag after the first load and just use the frame to haul loads of meat in that shelf? Will just them 2 straps on the shelf hold the meat without flopping around without a bag sandwiching it or do I need to bring spare straps to achieve this. Only asking cause I want to use this for boned out moose and it will be many trips.

Yeah you can take the bag off and use just the frame to haul meat. You will lose a couple straps though from the bag to help secure down the load.

Nice so if you want to weight train you can just use you the frame and leave your bag at home. Glad I pulled the trigger on your site.

Yeah, some guys do prefer more buckles which are perfectly fine! For this video, we did do things slower just so we could explain everything, but in the field, it usually only takes a couple minutes to get to your load shelf and fully secure the meat. No Mystery Ranch Packs do not hurt my hips, I've used MR packs as well as SG packs when using either of those, it's important to try to keep the weight higher up off your hips. In a Mystery Ranch pack, they have the option to extend that shelf out, I keep it as tight as I can and still have enough room to get the load in. That ensures the load stays higher up the pack.
