Lovely tutorial! Like you said, setting everything up is a slow process, but once it's done you can get some really neat camera movements!

Thank you! All the best things take time - the good thing about the multiplane camera is that it's on both the pro and standard tvp versions :)

It worked! I have TVPaint 11 Standard version so I ran into a little snag with the library option, but I tried changing the source like you had mentioned in the comments and that solved the problem. The only other problem I had was that I didn't apply the effect to all instances and frames, but I watched the tutorial a few times over and I finally figured out the mistake. Seriously thank you for this tutorial! I didn't think the version I had included any kind of camera feature, which made me sad. Before this tutorial I was scrambling to see if I can use the Ken burns feature in iMovie to create camera movement 😂😂😂
@kdsketch6 жыл бұрын
YES! So glad it worked out for you! :D I'm grateful for the feedback, I never would have realised that the library option isn't something that tvpaint standard has if it wasn't for the comments! TVP have a handy comparison pdf that shows you what's included in every version - which I'm definitely going to check more regularly! There's three ways of doing camera moves in tvpaint (my next video haha!) though I tend to use a mix of all three (or just use after effects if that's more convenient). Ahhh imovie, a classic! 😂

is there a way to fit a chracter animation between the layers ?

Sometimes the keyframer is a lot easier - especially before I updated because my laptop decided to crash every time I tried to open up or try using any of TVPaint's effects :')

Hi Katherine! I'm using TV Paint 9 PRO. I need to insert various camera movements (zoom in and out) and a horizontal overview on a background. How to do with 9 PRO version? Do I need to set the size of the project based on the size of the background? Thanks for your reply and congratulations for your work!!
@kdsketch5 жыл бұрын
I've only ever used TVP 11 Standard/Pro so I'm unsure if the ways of using the cameras are the same BUT I'd set up the shot to be as large as the background and then move the camera across it that way. In TVP11 you can use the multiplane camera to set everything up but sometime's it's just easier to put everything as it is in a seperate file. My laptop's not very powerful so it can lag a bit when using the fx stack. Thanks for stopping by, I'm glad you like my videos - I hope this helped!

Does TVpaint 10 have a library function?
@kdsketch6 жыл бұрын
I've had a look and from the comparison guide on TVPaint's website static.tvpaint.com/products/comparison.pdf and the library function seems to be a new feature they added in TVP 11 Pro only. If you don't have the library function and you're using the multiplane camera, when you go to add a plane you can select a different source. If you open up the layers into tvp as separate pngs you could change the source from 'image library' to 'project list' and select it from there? Thanks for pointing this out - I'll be sure to do a quick video explaining how to get around it without the Image Library sometime this week!
@SEGAmastergirl6 жыл бұрын
Thank you!
@DailySkyfox6 жыл бұрын
All you need to do is have your layers in separate transparent .png images, open them all up in TVP, and then select from the Project list! A lot more cumbersome, but perfectly doable :)

What do you do if you want the parallax to be more severe? (Ex back layer pans more slowly, top layer more quickly).. great tutorial btw
@kdsketch6 жыл бұрын
Thank you - I'm glad you liked it! I'd arrange the layers in the multiplane so the background would be further away from the camera (just make sure that it's big enough that there's no gaps) and have your foreground elements a lot closer. You could experiment with keyframing the camera to travel how far you want it, and also the speed profile - if you've ever animated anything in After Effects, think of the speed profile like you would the graphs in that and adjust the points to speed things up. I hope this makes sense!

Mam I have a doubt how to draw out of stage in tvpaint. Because in previously I using animate cc for animation there I can draw out of stage that looks little comfortable for me but in tvpaint I don't know how to do please help me
@kdsketch6 жыл бұрын
Hey! One of the downsides of TvPaint is that you can't draw outside of the canvas like you can in Flash (so annoying) but there is a small work around. What you can do is make your usual canvas, make a border around it using the line tool in whatever colour you like then go to modify project (make sure lock aspect box is ticked and stretch to new size box is unticked), adjust the size of the canvas to something bigger and then click modify and it will expand your canvas and create a new project in the tabs at the top. Hopefully it now looks a little more similar to Flash for you :)

Also, when you Create a New Project in TVPaint PRO version there is the option to make an over-sized canvas , so you can have your Camera View set to normal 1920 x 1080 (or whatever aspect ratio/resolution you are using for your final output) , but the program can automatically add a border area outside of the Camera View (you can choose how much extra border area you want -- 120% , 150% , 200% , 300% , whatever you prefer) . You can draw outside the camera view in this extra border area.

I have yet another question. So let's say I'm making a video. If I would use the camera tool or the multiplane tool and all that in the editing software, should I make the canvas bigger than 1920 x 1080?
@kdsketch Жыл бұрын
Depends on what you’re making. sometimes I’ll work at 4k, sometimes shots will be different sizes to show a camera move but export will always be HD (1920x1080)
@SuperLaikaBros2000 Жыл бұрын
@@kdsketch So you're saying bigger canvas than 1920 x 1080 will show a camera move but you export your video to KZbin at 1920 x 1080, is that correct?

This is very useful tutorial. Thank you ! I would just point out that the various OL and BG layers can be drawn and painted directly in TVPaint instead of Photoshop. Then put all of the images in the Library . (as in the TVP tutorial that Elodie Moog made, which is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKrci5mZrJZsba8

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it! Photoshop has been my go-to for illustration and backgrounds for a long time so it's hard to break the habit - especially having use of Kyle Webster's brush pack. I'm starting to use TvPaint for more than just animation and I reference the TvPaint channel tutorials and their website a lot :)

My light table isn't working in TVPaint why? :(
@kdsketch6 жыл бұрын
I'm not quite sure without seeing it but it's best to double check you've got everything on. Sometimes I'll accidentally activate the light table on the wrong layer. Maybe this page will help from Tvpaint - www.tvpaint.com/doc/tvp11/index.php?id=lesson-tradigital-animation-advanced-classic-tools-light-table If that doesn't help you might want to contact Tvpaint on their website or message them on Instagram or Twitter :)

Can I still use the multiplane tool in krita? 😬 P.S If that’s not possible, is there another way?
@kdsketch Жыл бұрын
Tvpaint and krita will not have the same animation tools and features and I wouldn’t recommend trying any camera moves in that. It should be done in an editing program after. I haven’t animated in krita in a while so you’re best to google the questions you have :)
