I learned this method back in my early days with Blender, from a Blender Guru video actually. I think it was from one of his modelling tutorials, probably the chair tutorial. It's very useful to know, though admittedly I haven't had to bend mesh cylinders much and have pretty much used curves to build pipes most of the time.
@yunushanbayrak4992 Жыл бұрын
After learning this method, it was very easy to make objects that require curves, such as pipes.

1. For Circles, your pivot point has to be a single vertex. 2. For Squares, your pivot point has to be an edge, Once you found your pivot vertex or edge, you can also move the cursor with Shift +S (cursor to selected). When you're ready, click on the whole face and choose your x, y, or z.

Powerfull tool, was playing around with it. Is there a way to make the spin tool circle radius bigger?
@lanewallace.2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I’m not sure, but I think the position of the 3D cursor dictates the radius
@PhilippeLhoste2 жыл бұрын
I moved the 3D cursor beyond the extremity, and higher. It made the radius bigger, but with a strange curvature. But then I found out that the green, red and yellow arrows can be dragged to get the right look / curvature. The tool seems very flexible.

what is really missing is moving the 3d cursor like an object along a x y and being able to snap to geometry then
@lanewallace.2 жыл бұрын
You can actually do this by going to the side bar and then the view tab
@cekuhnen2 жыл бұрын
@@lanewallace. yes you can and that is fine for manual entry but it should be possible to drag it like an object and snap to geometry while dragging
@lanewallace.2 жыл бұрын
Ohhh yes I know what you mean now, and you’re right, that would be very useful in many cases
@apemant Жыл бұрын
You can in Blender 3.3: Shift + hold down Right mouse button; turn on snapping to vertex (etc.) or hold Control to temporarily turn on snapping while dragging. Edit: But only press Shift + Right mouse to start! Then after that you can hold down Control (otherwise it will try to lasso select). I actually never tried this until I read your comments, I just knew you could Shift + Right click to set the 3D cursor, but this is very useful, huge time saver for me!!! :D
