I've been researching the Thor Majestic 23-A with the intention of purchasing within the next few months. This is the best tour/user's guide that I have ever seen. Thank you for taking the time to be so thorough.

I’m hoping the price continues to go down as I do think they are priced too high. I ll still get an inspection on coach and the vehicle and make sure everything is good.

@@jocelynb8935 That is for sure, the prices did get a pretty decent jump in recent years. Getting an older unit is totally okay though in my eyes, not much has been updated. A 2008 and up model is nice due to a critical spark plug issue design was changed starting in 2008. Previous models suffered from spark plug issues due to thread design. Not that buying an older model is bad, just keep in mind that there is a known issue (with permanent 3rd party fixes) that you will want to will want to investigate a bit before jumping the gun. @thebestfamilyoutdoor RVshow Mahalo for thec tip. I’m also looking at the Thor comparable models Fourwinds, Chateau and Freedom elite 23U. Floor plan is the same but these actually have ladders, awnings and Tv. These units typically have MUCH lower mileage and fewer owners…..I do like the simplicity of the Majestic and the fact they are made to be a little more sturdier. I emailed their rep and their ceiling and floors are made of thicker construction than their commercial counterparts.

@@jocelynb8935 , the sturdier build is one of the attractions to me for the Majestic as well. I plan to use a collapsible ladder. I've noticed a lot of RVs are not putting ladder any longer. I was told that this was to try to deter folks from walking on the roof except for maintenance.

I have purchased this Rv 23a terrific unit we’ve gone through the motor and transmission plugs and fuel injectors as a precaution for long trips only issue was the propane tank only shows 2/3 wish it was totally full.good unit lots of fun highly recommend the Thor 23a .🤩

Hey thanks for sharing your experience. Most of the RV units I have seen have show full as 2/3 ish mainly because you are suppose to only will Propane tanks to 80%. There is a rule called the 80% filling rule. But if your propane value is really busted and showing 2/3's then haha, but one thing to note, the propane tanks can go quite a while at EMPTY before it is actually empty, but I also bet you have learned to guess and gauge manually. Also - I have had a valve and gauge changed once. It was 250$ CND... for the Valve + 30 minutes labor. The valve was stuck on tight I tell ya. Figured share that with you incase your valve ever got super busted. I hope you the units keeps purring for you to enjoy. 👍👍🙌🙌

@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow For sure, it's something I lose sleep over because I wanna do it so badly, I wanna basically Move into one for a year, Make it organized and everything, outfit it so you can be Nomadic with it (Batteries, Solar Panels etc) and outfit it with Wifi Maybe, and travel the lower 48 in it! Have the fresh water tank full so I can effectively have my home anywhere, bring my tools and ramps If I need to change oil/coolant on it ever, find some job I can work online and from home and Do schooling online! I think the 23A is the perfect size in my mind!

I get about 11/12mpg or 20L/100KM approximately. I have 'Tow Haul' on about 85% of the time, tires at about 70-73 PSI across tires normally. Not exact figures but a good ball park. You might be able to squeeze a little more out if you are in flat terrain. I usually hit the mountain areas, one tip is to climb the hills slowly at about 80-90KM/H (or slower) on the long steep mountain climbs. Going up some steep grade mountains at high speed will burn lots of gas, keep the RPMs moderate for good economy.

What a great video, quick question though (maybe I'm too paranoid) but does the water inlet have any kind of locking system? I don't plan on making enemies but would like some security from any kind of sabotage.

The water inlet is normally a standard RV water cap. They are about 20 dollars approximately to replace. I haven't seen them locked before to be honest, but I am sure you could customize something up if needed. For extra security you could add an inline water filter to your tap. This way water can get filtered before going out of the taps. Normally I bring drinking water, either bottled or a jug filled from a safe source. The RV water is generally for washroom, hand washing, dishes and showering. I don't drink directly from the RV taps normally. (I have in desperate times and still alive)

You could direct plug it on the battery when you park manually with the positive and negative cable. The battery compartment is really easy to reach. This would be the easy way. Alternatively you could do the hard wire install that mounts to the roof. I have a 300 watt panel on top of the RV, I didn't do the install of it though. I will try to get a video of that setup to give you some info on it sometime in future, it doesn't look like too difficult of a job but it will require you to drill into the RV roof and seal the holes.

I do not cover it, but I would cover any roof vents, or use Max Air type vents to protect against hail - at least where I live you need to. For sun protection, I have seen real big covers that you can buy to go over it though. In the super long term it does help with the UV sun damage stuff of course. I have some neighbors that cover their RV and it does amazing preserving the paint job and decals from drying up.

Hey thanks for the question. When I mention 'Auto Mode' and 'plug in' I am referring to the main power cord you plug in when you park. So when you get to a powered camp site and you park the RV, to get full power you then plug in the RV to a power source. This one plug will power the whole RV. So no you don't need to plug any wire that is specifically connected to the fridge. I hope that answers your question.

Around 8 with towing would be ball parkish enough accurate. For the solar panel with a STOCK model in this year - if you climb to the roof, you will see the wire sticking out with a small 5-10 watts maybe panel. The wire itself is quite thin, if I was to guess maybe it is about AWG 14 thickness. If you want a proper setup, an after market solar controller is usually installed from what I see. I actually got one of these on video with a full solar setup. I am going to do a quick video of it for you. It will give you a very good idea of what you will need to do. Wait for me bud.

My number one advice is to make sure you test the water system. When buying in winter, it maybe hard to, but this will be a costly repair if the pipes or hot water tank has leaks.

I found another same year, just a different model name. The one for 35k is a "Majestic" private sale, and the other is an "Adventurer" at Arbutus RV dealers. That one is considerably more 55k.

Hey generally speaking there might be somethings that will appear. - It is common to see front shocks swapped to new ones. However you cold ride on old shocks of they are not broken. - Manifold issues. I had some bolts snap at 240K ish. Not a big issue to repair. - If the engine does blow for whatever reason it would be about 10k to 12k to rebuild a V10 and a little less for a V8. But you should be good for a while. Being that you are buying at 268K. Everything else has been pretty good besides things I would consider as regular maintenance. I do sealing checks once a year for the roof and exterior in spring. Let me know if you have any specific questions I will try to answer them.

Black tanks can show full pretty often when they are indeed empty. Bascially some 'stuff' is stuck on a sensor or sensors which then results with the tank showing full. You can use tank cleaners or install a black tank cleaner to resolve this issue. You might find after a short drive that it resolves itself. But honestly this is just a normal issues that happens to all RVs blank tank sensors. On this unit there is a 25 gallon tank. So on average you will likely get at least 30 uses before you need to worry.

I have not installed a TV. I mainly have gone with Tablets and they were fine. I am finding it very hard to fine a spot though visually. Above the entrance door might be okay for a small one. For me I always thought that I would ceiling hang a small light modern TV with some ceiling mount flip down system. There are beams you can screw into that would surely hold a light modern TV. I have tapped into this beams from the outside top of the roof for a solar install and they are solid.

On my FORD E-350 RV Body , LT225/75R16 E tires. Usually its about $350 CND for me per tire including install. Because I am in the mountains and have harsh winters, I try to get all terrain tires with the snow flake symbol. These tires sometimes are harder to find. When they are not in stock, I try to go minimum M+S rating, so that it is winter legal.

Actually the odometer speed tracker is in Miles, but the mileage in the vehicle is tracked in KMs. At least that is what the dealership told me lol. Never questioned it to be honest.

Hey these rigs are pretty reliable. I am very happy with it. It is a real good size thay makes a balance between comfort and mobility. Maintenence wise: Issues wise, the 5.4 triton V8 has been pretty nice to me. Some O2 sensors replaced but that is normal for most cars. I keep my lube maintenance up based on vision inspections and shop checks. When the shops inspect and tell me to change lubes I change it. Based on my usage, I tend to do the rear diff oil every 2 years, transmission every 2 years. I did a coolant flush not too long ago at 200K kilometers. Regular maintenence stuff. Engine wise, if blows or fails it will cost about 8 to 10k for a full rebuild which should last a long time. Over 200k kilometers and going very strong which is typical for these units. I have seen and used quite a few of these. Hope that helps bud.

Hello, mine is a 2014. There is no battery switch disconnect on mine. I usually unscrew the negative on the battery to disconnect.

Beside the rear vanity mirror there is a thermostat. Turn that to the right which is hot, the left side is the cool side. When you turn it all the way left, you hear a click and that means it is off. If you don't hear a click, it's not off. It's just on the lowest setting.

Are the water tanks insulated? Majestic 23A does not come with an onboard generator?

The water tanks are not insulated from what I can tell. However I have a heat strip that you plug into an outlet on the grey and black tanks. What you can do is plug in the heat strip for a little before dumping in the winter. It will keep the waste water in a slushy state if it is super cold. There is a manufacturer option for a generator but I choose to not get built in generators. Been preferring external ones because I can use a an extension cord and bring it far away from the RV itself. Built-in generators are great, just noisy because it is fitted right under the RV. - both will have pros and cons but usually we have powered sites so its not really an issue. Hope this answer helps!

Hey, this one doesn't have an integrated generator, it however has the rough in electrical for a generator install and cabin area for it. A lot of these do come installed with them though from factory.

Thanks. Quick note. Most of the RVs here in Canada show the speed in MPH in the big numbers and KMs in the tiny inner numbers. This is because RVs are manufactured in the US. There are some older models I have seen that were from a time RVs were manufactured in Canada and they are in KMs. The newest RV I have seen with KMs was a 2001 model.

They are indeed gas guzzlers. It is about the same mileage as towing a trailer but full time all the time. Biggest advantage I think personally are for young families or older families. Having a fridge, a kitchen and washroom inside the ride helps. If these were free, I would take 10. 😊 Seriously though, you are right they eat gas. Probably use more gas than a Class B, and less less gas than a class A motorhome.

My family and I are literally in one of these right now. We rented it for the week to go from Jersey to Ohio. I can attest to this beast being a gas guzzler!! $160 to fill 3/4 of a tank 🤦🏽‍♀️

@@HelenKerins Yes for sure these do eat gas like a monster compared to regular smaller vehicles. I think when choosing if an RV is right for you, you have to weigh between the cost of eating out and renting a hotel vs cooking your own food and having the convenience of a mobile home. I have heard the term pay to play for this type of outdoor fun. Hopefully gas doesn't keep climbing up in cost😒😒
