Anxiously awaiting the courage to fix the side-swipe Damage to my 2015 BMW 335i. This video helped a lot! Sadly I don’t have chips, but if I do, this should work well!
@DriversTherapy3 жыл бұрын
If you have some paint exchange you can some 3M scratch/polisher compound. If you do, make sure to apply just in the area you want to fix, it is hard to stay in such a small area but it is important. Also, do not press too hard.

Super easy. I got one for my Santa Fe. So I guess there's no need to wipe it down? The paint will settle itself?
@DriversTherapy Жыл бұрын
Yes, it will dry within a few hours but don’t wash it for at least 24 hours.

Thanks for the instructions. Mine didnt come with any from dealer. How long do you let dry between paint coats?
@DriversTherapy3 жыл бұрын
I let it dry for at least 15 minutes. :)

Does the Hyundai touchup paint come with the clearcoat on the other end? Also I noticed the duplex color aftermarket pens have paint and primer, which do you think would be better paint and primer or paint and clearcoat from Hyundai?
@DriversTherapy3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend using Hyundai setup. The color is identical and works well. There is a clear coat side to the pen as well. I didn’t show that but you just add a coat or two after your touch up.
@6atlantis3 жыл бұрын
@@DriversTherapy yes thank you. I was just wondering if I should get both pens so I could do primer paint and clearcoat, but something tells me that the Hyundai paint is a paint and primer in one. Thanks again

About to buy a touch up kit for my BMW 528i but not even sure how to use it and I don’t want to mess anything up. I see after you apply the paint brush to the scratches I can do a few coats within one hour as long as they dry in btwn each coat. But when it dries you see the color difference still ? Am I supposed to buff it then put the clear coat ? Or does the clear coat take away the color differential ?
@DriversTherapy4 жыл бұрын
Hello, depending on the size of the scratch, I would start off by cleaning the area and applying one coat. Let is dry and see how it looks. Also, see if the touch-up paint filled the scratch and that it is close to even with the rest of the surface. If it is NOT, then you can apply another coat. The main thing is to not add too many coats otherwise the touch-up paint will be higher than the regular paint. You should not need to buff anything if you are doing a simple touch up. If it is a long and deep scratch, you might want a professional to do it. Good luck and thank you Nick for watching the video.

Just tried this now waiting to clear coat but I feel like I can see the paint spots now
@DriversTherapy2 жыл бұрын
I use a thin fine paint brush rather than the applicator in certain scenarios and that seems to help.

@@DriversTherapy that sounds good I'll use that for the clear coat

My touch up paint from KIA didn't come with the sanding stick. Is there something else that I could use?

The sanding sticks helps but is not necessary if you scratch area is clean.

Sorry it didn't look like you completed the job. You put one incomplete tapping on the scruffs and then you said "until you fill" it in. And you said the instructions say to let it dry "for a while" -- what is a "while"???? Then you note if you are going to apply a clear coat wait six hours. So if I don't apply a clean coat I guess a "while" is less than six hours. Also you never go back to fill in the spots you missed and don't show the finished work. I don't get it. This is the second video on doing this I have watched and in both cases, the job wasn't done and the finished job wasn't shown. I don't know what to think. Sorry
@DriversTherapy3 жыл бұрын
The reason why most videos don’t go into detail is because every paint stick is different. The drying time varies so leaving that open ended is intended for someone to read the instructions in their paint stick and follow them. This video gives you a visual demonstration of doing it. But if you need help on a specific part please ask. What does your paint stick say for drying time?

the same exact thoughts came to mind. it feels like a teaser video.

*the paint takes between 15 to 30 mins to cure before applying the clear coat. Depends on the environment if it's cold or warm etc..*
