FYI, the newer model(?), TL-WR841N, has a slightly different interface than the one shown in the video. There's now an Operation Mode menu item that features 4 options the device can be configured for: Wireless Router, WISP, Access Point, and Range Extender. Those watching this video are most interested in the last one, but it pays to read the definition of what the other three do. Clicking the desired radio button, then 'Save', sets up the DHCP and several other items for you automatically that are manually configured above. The only thing you need to do is type in the password of your chosen root router and Save. Good Luck!

You neglected to mention that you should set the DNS to the main router as well. Set the Primary DNS under Network-WAN to the main router IP which was 192.168.1.1 in my case. If you don't do this you may see issues depending upon your firmware.

Hi, first thanks for the tutorial, but I wanna ask some question. I've already follow all your instruction but I cant still reach the internet. I checked the WDS status it's INIT and not ASSOC. Is there something wrong with it ? Should I connect the LAN Cable from the primary router to my secondary router ? FYI, I'm using TP Link TL-WR841N for my secondary router and ZTE F609 for my primary router. Thanks before for ur assistance.

There is a solution for people having problem of no internet n repeating the setup everytime there is a power cut. Keep the channel number of primary router on a fixed number n not auto. N then keep the channel number of repeater as d same as d primary. U will gt ur internet

I just got a C7 ac1750 that I am going to use as my base router & I have a D-link that I will use as my range extender. I have the D-link setup as WDS+AP & have DNS disabled so it's ready to go.I'm guessing the c7 is very similar to the c9 so I won't need to make any changes? I thought I had to enter the MAC addy of the D-link for them to connect.Anyone know of a link anywhere that shows the setup using the c7 as the base router?Or am I better of just updating the firmware to dd-wrt on the c7?All input welcome.

hey man! Shouldn't the ip address of the extender router be out of range of the ip addresses that is allocated by my root router's DHCP or else you can get ip address conflict?

This does not function properly on a TP-Link router. Most TP-Link routers only have one 2.4Ghz card. If you use that card for setting up a wireless bridge. You cannot use the same card as a wireless access point. If you're lucky it works for a little while, but the card will end up mixing packages. You can however plug in a cable and connect any device wired. Which works perfectly. To get a working repeater setup you need either a router with 2 wireless cards or find another router/access point to plug that in your wireless bridge. And setup the second router as an access point With a dual band router however you can use the 2.4Ghz to setup the bridge and use the 5Ghz as the access point. Or vice versa.

Greeting, I did everything as it was in video and managed to connect routers, but I have one problem. Internet speed on the second router (repeater) is only 2mbps, while the main router is 40mbps.
