Thank you for the tutorial, I am a cricut joy user for the first time to ever own such a machine. I love all the things the cricut joy can do, but I don't know how to use all it's features. I tried to use transfer tape in a sentence my cricut joy cut in vinyl, I thought I knew what I was doing but I didn't. When my sentence came out of my cricut joy, I weeded and cut my words out separately to place them the way I wanted on my board. Then I cut off the size transfer tape to cover each word Individually. I separated the top clear piece of the transfer tape from the backing, I place the clear over each word. I trashed the backside pieces that went with the clear part of the transfer tape. I used the scraper tool to burnish, in my mind I thought the words would stick to the clear piece and the I would put it on my project, remove the clear tape & it would transfer. Then I thought, how could that work as the paper behind the vinyl is still attached to the words & there's no sticky to it. I am sure I ruined my project, I've been confused but u'm eager to learn. You made the impossible in my mind, possible and with such simplicity. Thank you

After burnishing, flip it over and burnish the back side as well. then with it flipped over peel away the backing of the vinyl. Hopefully that helps!

I made a vinyl decal for my car using this method. I'm not very crafty and I had to manually use an X-acto blade instead of a cutting machine. I thought the edges would be uneven or something else would go wrong, but it turned out perfectly on the first try. Thank you!

No matter how many times I go over it with the scraper I cannot get it to fully stick to the transfer tape. I end up using the weeding tool to remove edges that didn’t stick from the vinyl backing as I peel back the transfer tape. Frustrating to say the least. Iron-on vinyl or HTV (the stuff that goes on a shirt with a heat press) does not use transfer tape. It actually comes with its own carrier sheet attached to the vinyl. Transfer paper and transfer tape are the same things.

Is the vinyl peelable once its on? If so, what sealants do you recommend? I want to make my own car window decal but I want to use a sealant after I transfer it onto the window so no one can just scratch or peel it off

Vinyl does not need a sealant over the top nor do I recommend it. It will actually cause the vinyl to bubble and peel up. It is fine to leave it as is.

transfer tape is used to move vinyl designs from the backing to the final object. It allows the design to stay together exactly as it is intended to be. instead of having to move each piece separately and having to place it individually. Hope that helps!

A laminator won't give you the same results. Best to use transfer paper to transfer designs to blanks.

That is correct. the machine will do a 'kiss' cut. where it only cuts the vinyl and not the backing. then you will use that transfer tape to remove the vinyl from the backing and place on your surface.

Hi there, I am not entirely sure what you mean by the drawing papers? Transfer tape is used with vinyl. If you are using writable vinyl I would suggest to not use transfer tape as it will affect the writing.

What is stopping us from using transfer tape as a vinyl stencil, seems great for fresh paint areas. *What is the point in a stencil film, when you havee transfer film? *can you use transfer film over transfer film for your paint stencils. Especially considering oracle stencil film that cost 3 to 4x more.

Transfer Tape was not made to be cut by the Cricut. I do not recommend trying it. Transfer tape is to help keep your design fully as intended to be placed on a surface. If you were to use transfer tape you would still need a way to get it to where you want it.

I dont have a cricut printer/cutter. I have a regular Canon inkjet and some cricut vinyl paper. I'm guessing I can print onto the paper and then apply? Or do I need to apply with transfer tape always? The paper appears to have a white ("2 piece) paper so idk if the design lifts off of it..

Printable vinyl would work for if your making something like stickers. If it's regular vinyl, you can try to get the design off the backing to transfer it to the desired surface. It may require some patience but it's possible.

@@tiagrace8997 Is there a reason you were using permanent vinyl on a shirt? Permanent vinyl is for hard surfaces like a sticker. For shirts you will want to heat bond the Iron-On vinyl to your shirt so that is a different material known as Heat Transfer Vinyl or HTV.

I have a dumb question my htv all the letters from my project got accidently cut too deep so they all stuck to the mat so im trying to save it i was told to use transfer tape but i would need to transfer it back on another piece of transfer tape to press it on tshirt

hmm... that's a tough one. I am worried that the htv and backing will be too thick and wont be able to transfer to any sort of transfer tape. You could try just placing it on the shirt as it with the mat and everything and then try to pull back the mat from the htv as it sticks to the shirt. Hopefully that makes a little sense.

If you're using glitter vinyl, you may want to use strong grip transfer tape. We wouldn't use that on any other material other than glitter. Here are a few tips. The Key is to burnish really well on both sides, and try to pull the backing at a sharp angle. Sometimes using the scraper to hold the vinyl to the transfer tape helps too.

I just tried my first transfer....It is some lettering (small) and it does NOT adhere to the transfer tape - Ive tried three times now. Doing all the steps you described here.....none of the letters stick to the transfer tape. I ordered the T Tape on line.... It says oracle transfer tape for use with Cricut. Very frustrating.

We are so sorry you had a frustrating experience! We've totally been there. We'd recommend trying a new brand of transfer tape- we have not tried that specific brand. We use Cricut's transfer tape and have had a lot of success. Sometimes it's just the transfer tape that is bad! Also, are you using a glitter vinyl? If so, you'll want to use Cricut StrongGrip transfer tape. Hope that helps! You got this.

Umm, if you want to do this with some accuracy in application, you can use a soapy water mixture (I use a couple drops of dish soap in a spray bottle) and spray the target area (using a spray water bottle) and then apply your vinyl. You can move it around and position it exactly where you want. When you get it where you want then smooth it out (with the same tool she shows in this video) and push out most of the liquid and allow the soapy water to evaporate. It's best to wait a few hours. You can then remove the transfer tape. You're welcome.
