Theres 2 types of adhesive used on packing tapes - rubber & acrylic. The suggested tape uses a rubber adhesive. Acrylic adhesives won't work. So do your homework to make sure its rubber.
@LifeLostSoul15 күн бұрын
Edit: I tested this with Scotch brand tape, a cheap cellulose tape, and a random packing tape the movers left behind. It worked with all of them and I couldn't find any adhesive information on any of them.

You can also transfer laser prints to wood (surface must be *very* smooth) using rubbing alcohol and a lot of rubbing--heating it with an iron also helps. I bought a cheap Epson tank-type inkjet printer and started doing sublimation/DTF transfer--way easier but sublimation is limited as to what surfaces it can stick to.

The translucent picture would be perfect for an eerie or Halloween project as it looks like a ghost lurking in the background. As I mentioned a while ago, I’ve made images with an ink jet printer with no issues. I would suggest though, that it dries thoroughly before you try to seal it. , preferably with a spray than a brush.
@MsFoxyVeach5 күн бұрын
How long is thoroughly though? I've let my ink jet prints dry for upwards of a week, and my ink still runs, any time I'm sealing it with a brush. And sealing with a spray just makes it transparent..
@gizmo78775 күн бұрын
@ I had no problem with mine but I was very careful with drying and sealing. All I know is it worked for me. When you’re on a tight budget, you have to make do.

A trick to transfer a design to wood. Get some waxy backing used on eg vinyl wrap. (Sticker type backing) A sign shop has bins full of the stuff for free. Cut into eg A4 size to fit an ordinary inkjet printer.With standard inks .. Print your design. Reverse eg any lettering. It comes off printer almost wet. Place over wood carefully press or roll it to transfer so it doesn't smudge. Can clear lacquer it when it dries .Can also use for eg pyro or cutting template. The trick is the waxy backing paper. and inkjet.

Hello from BC! Thank you for this advice. I'm pleased to see how clever it is. I could imagine this being used for book marks. It looks like the paper rubbed off very cleanly. This means that it can then be saved and used for home made paper. Are you able to confirm this? By the way, do you have tips on removing labelling and branding from HDPE plastic bottles for dish and laundry detergent?

@@OurUpcycledLife 1) These labels that I'm thinking of look like paint, but I've never heard of such a thing. They can be scratched off under the right conditions, but that seems odd still. I wonder if they are high tech decals. 2) I wonder if Tetra Pak type materials can be used for crafting, because paper can be removed. Have you tried? 3) Is there value for thrift stores to sell these label backings by themselves in packages of 10, 25, 50, 100, and 500?
