How long did it take to initially set up your week schedule? This is an outstanding presentation
@mamagoesbeyond36972 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind comment! Truthfully, it’s hard to remember how long it took for the initial set-up, but I remember it being a bit of a slog when I was developing the system. This year, though, it only took an hour or so to set everything up, and I can maintain it in just a few minutes a week.

I JUST discovered Trello the other day, but I'm not familiar with it yet. This was so helpful! Thank you!

Curious what you do when a new week rolls around? Do you duplicate the board, or just change the name of the board?
@mamagoesbeyond369710 ай бұрын
I have 3 weekly boards created at once-i.e. ‘Week 1’, ‘Week 2’, and ‘Week 3’. (I like to plan 2 weeks in advance.) When Week 1 finishes, I move the necessary cards either to the ‘Week 2’ board if we didn’t finish the work or my ‘Completed Weeks’ board if we did. Then, I’ll rename the ‘Week 1’ board ‘Week 4’ and make up the new cards needed as I do my lesson planning for that week.

When using Canvo for your super cute headers, which template did you use? Not sure of the right dimensions.
@mamagoesbeyond36974 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jennifer! The large teal cards at the top are 1200x628, the smaller pink divider cards are 1200x314.

Hi!! I appreciate this video so so much!! I am really interested in using Trello for my upcoming 4th grader and Kindergartener. How long do you spend inputting all the info into Trello! It seems like a valuable tool, but the time it takes to input all the data seems tedious! Thanks!
@mamagoesbeyond36973 жыл бұрын
Hi, Ivy! I would estimate that I probably spent a few hours setting everything up initially. Now, I spend about 30 minutes every Sunday night moving things to the completed weeks board and copy-pasting assignments for the upcoming weeks. It does take some time, but it makes things so easy when school time rolls around during the week!

Thanks for your review! I’d love to know how to get a report with checklist detail from a completed board for a semester or year. So that our progress can be tracked and preserved outside Trello as a backup. Any thoughts? Thanks again for this video.

You're most welcome, Danielle! I know that you can use the Agile Cards Power-Up to PDF/print your cards, so that might be an option (albeit a kind of ugly one IMHO). If you want something pretty to show at a review, I'd recommend keeping a journal of the highlights in Evernote or a word processing document. Hope you have a great homeschool year!
@daniellewindhorst10344 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I will look keeping notes separately. One more question, do you create a new weekly board or just change the name to reflect the new week, since you archive your completed to a weekly list?
@mamagoesbeyond36974 жыл бұрын
Danielle Windhorst I have a weekly template board that’s set up with all of the teal and pink header cards. Every Sunday night, I make a copy of the template board and begin filling it up with cards to plan the week that starts 2 weeks from tomorrow. That way, I always have plenty of time to request a book we’ll need from the library or buy stuff for a science experiment. I then just close the board that we’re done with (show menu-more-close board). I could probably just change the title on the current week’s board the way you suggested, though!

How do you track (or even do you track) any unplanned work/rabbit holes that happen through the week?
@mamagoesbeyond36974 жыл бұрын
Hi, Emma! The state I live in right now doesn’t require any reporting, so I don’t bother tracking the rabbit holes. If I decided to track them, I would probably just add a new card to that week’s “Completed” list with the information. If I were still meeting with my local school district twice yearly for a review, I would probably create a journal card every week with representative photos of work and summaries of what we’d done that week, so that preparing for the review was easier. My board right now is mainly just to help me plan.

Hi, thank you so much for the video. i have watched it now 3 times as I am trying to sort out my Homeschool Trello account so I don't have paper work all around our house. I have a 7 and 8 year old which I am homeschooling, they are doing the same year so it is a lot easier. I was wondering if you could share your templates. I have been working on the week by week board, But am wanting to learn about planning template, completed template, monthly and yearly template.Otherwise do you have an email that I can chat to you to get help.

You're welcome! I LOOOOVE Trello for planning homeschool, and I'm glad the video is helpful. You can find a copy of my main weekly homeschool template by clicking here: mamagoesbeyond.com/trello-boards (There are also some other free boards there that you might like, and if you click around, you'll find lots of other fun freebies there in the Subscriber Hub.) My yearly planning template is a part of my You Got This, Mama Homeschool Planner, which you can find here: mamagoesbeyond.com/homeschool-planner For the Completed Weeks Board, I just create a blank board and move the Completed Weeks list there at the end of each week when it's full of that week's completed cards. I'm always available to chat via email: mama@mamagoesbeyond.com. Anissa

the underscore tip isn't working, if I do that on mine it puts a line across the cover where the title would be
@mamagoesbeyond36974 жыл бұрын
Hi, Katrina! Mine has started doing that, too, in the last couple of weeks. Just on the desktop version-cards look normal on mobile. Hopefully it’s a feature that Trello is tweaking and will fix soon!
