Same here. To the point I've been paralyzed by frustration, struggling to believe I'll ever paint something I feel proud of again, or that I can even paint anything that's minimally worthy. I know, it's too dumb, and I shouldn't feel like this. Yet I can't help feeling. 🙄😣😖

My mom got me started painting with oils and acrylics when I was young. I recently wanted to move toward watercolors after visiting a friend and seeing his wife painting using watercolors. She was from Japan and had an incredibly skill using watercolors. She said she developed her skill in Japan when she was young using a similar technique and product. It was absolutely incredible watching her make it look so simple. I'm having troubles getting some of my art look like what I envision in my mind. My habits with oils and acrylics are influencing my behavior with the watercolors. But I will say the more I watch videos like this, the more I understand and appreciate the skill. Thank you for sharing your time to help those of us looking to perfect this skill.. So awesome!

Thanks to you and "EmilyArtful" i have seriously stepped up my watercolour game. I have only ever used daft student grade stuff mostly in disk form and never knew how to use them. Now i got a Daley and rowney half pan set from a Scrawlrbox and i went to town on the painting and it doesn't even look like something i did 6 yrs ago. Never use to like watercolours but now i'm eager to do more.

Cheap art supplies are cheap because they do not have the quality of better supplies. Would someone buy cheap tools to do a job, tool that might fall apart? Try to assemble cheap furniture...the holes aren't lined up. You get what you pay for.

@@rashone2879 Lol my friend bought a cheap hammer drill for a job he was working, darn handle snapped off the side while he was drilling into the concrete and it started spinning and jumping all over the place. Needless to say that was the last cheap power tool he bought.

I like the idea. Sometimes people can't afford the more expensive supplies or maybe they already have some and just want to try it out before investing. And I think it's cool to push and see what you can achieve with minimal material.

Totally agree. A whole lot of artists are unable to afford all of the premium grade materials. There should be more videos showing cheap supplies to show that results can be achieved even with low quality supplies

Kirsty, I've been doing w/c painting for almost a year and am at a real frustration point. I feel like I should be getting better results, though I have had some successful paintings. I spent 9 hours trying to paint a loose butterfly (with Brusho, which I've just been using since Christmas--a whole other beast!-and always messed one part or another. Anyway, all that to say that after a year of following a number of wonderful artists I discovered YOU last night...YaY! I absolutely love your painting of the robin and just adore the background blurred flowers; the style I aspire to do. I love your vibrant colors and use them in my paintings almost always!
