Perfectly timed for me to see a year later, when I'm ready and eager to get started with my new full set of Faber Castel Albrecht Durer Watercolor pencils 120 that will arrive on this coming Monday. I also want to try the techniques shown using my original Derwent Inktense 72 pencils. A dream of mine is to be able to get the new 28 Inktense colors introduced in by Derwent in 2023!

Great video, thank you so much for making it. I just want to add one thing for anyone who is new to watercolor pencils. You can blend dark to light, but it has to be done in a different way than going light to dark (which is what's shown in the video). It works well if you use small strokes side to side and wash off the brush frequently. While this method does make it easier to accidentally bring pigment too far down into the light area, I've found that it also gives you more control over not letting darker pigment bleed into already-wet light areas (which is a common issue that is even present in the video example).

I still have my Bryunzeel watercolor pencils I got from my uncle at my hospital bed when I was 12. Never took to the watercoloring side of it, I simply hadn’t thought about them being watercolor pencils and their benefits. Recently I’ve rediscovered them and your video has given me some enthusiasm to use them like this. I am a very light colorist due to my muscle illness and don’t find them very pigmented but maybe I need to layer more so I’ll try that. If I still don’t like them at least I now know which pencils are worth buying. Your succulent is gorgeous btw

I'll be honest. I had no interest in watercolor before, bc by my experience, getting good art tips that properly explain the process are incredible hard. My mom got me a small watercolor pencil set bc she knows I like art, so I decided to watch this video I had absolutely no idea watercolor could be interesting, and you explained everything so well!! Thank you for teaching these techniques and showing them with proper explanation!! I really appreciate what you showed and I'll be sure to put that watercolor pencil set to good use! ❤

I have used the Koh-I-Noor brand of watercolor pencils. I thought when I was younger that they were the only brand that made them! I still have a very good collection of them. I'm also fond of an older tutorial on how to make textures with watercolors, including the plastic wrap and sponge method. Have you discovered new ways to make watercolor texture over the last few years? It would be great to see how you use other materials to make textures now.

Gosh, I lift the color off the pencil with a wet brush. I can even create a wash and I can hold 3 or 4 colors in my left hand lifting/mixing different colors. Totally different I guess. The great big advantage is no pencil strokes on the paper. Oh, this is using Derwent AQUAtone woodless pencil that are solid pigment. Love them! Forgot to mention, I can also create a little travel pallet by marking the pencil pigment heavily onto thick paper. Then lift color off of that for quick little sketches. I feel like this tutorial totally skips this other method of using pencils. (which I find best.
