I've seen that watercolor ground recently at a craft store. I may buy some with my gift card. I have a bunch of those Daiso adult coloring books of flowers and other things, and I wanted to use watercolor pencils but the paper is not watercolor paper. Thanks for the suggestion of using that product!

Is that the same as clear gesso please? I already have that if so.

That’s a good question! Gesso adds tooth and the watercolor ground helps mediums like paper become more absorbent. After using the ground, my paper never buckled or warped but it did have tooth. I really did not care for the tooth when using watercolor pencils. I would go ahead and experiment with the gesso you have on a sample page. See if it works with paper and if it helps absorb the pencil color. Then if you’d be so kind, reply back and let other viewers know how your experiment went. Thanks so much for watching.
