Recently moved to the UK and boiler systems are all brand new to us. It’s been months trying to sort how our heating and hot water are managed since the water buttons on the boiler seemed broken. Mark how does boiler heating work if no room thermostat

Hi Mark, thanks for another useful and informative video. Just a quick question regarding how traditional boilers operate when heating the hot water cylinder ONLY. Summer is approaching so radiators will be soon be off 😊. I noticed my boiler firing for two minutes, then goes on standby, while the pump keeps operating for about three minutes, before firing again for another two and so on until the cylinder thermostat is satisfied shutting the boiler off. Will all those short cycles prematurely wear down my traditional condensing boiler?

Yes of course it will…..use your immersion in the summer months…

You won't wear the boiler down.We had ours for 25 years a small Glowworm Boiler.We had it replaced by a combi boiler.

If you have the room thermostat set for e.g. 22 degrees, what should all the radiator thermostats be set on?

Hi Mark, Whilst I may have my Cylinder Stat set to 55, what temp do you recommend the Boiler DHW flow target to be set to for quick and efficient reheat cycle eg 60 or 75 ?
