Questions: 1. Suppose some people arrive late, how do you assign them to breakout rooms that are already functioning (they have been assigned randomly)? 2. How can you have people go to the same breakout rooms after they have been in the overall room.

Is it possible to make breakout-rooms in advance and let the meeting start without host and the participants can themselves go to breakout-rooms?
@PatriciaRegier Жыл бұрын
Great question! You can create them ahead of time if they are all Zoom account owners and login with that email address you have used to create the rooms. Starting the meeting without you means also assigning a cohost within your account. A host or cohost needs to open the rooms (assigned), or you have opened them and let people pick. There are some additional details, but the best way would be to start the meeting earlier, have someone join you to make them host or cohost before you leave. There are some possible workarounds.

@@PatriciaRegier Thank You. I will go and find some cohost 🙂

FYI chromebook and iPhone users can't select rooms the host has to assign them

Question: Can the host select a 'gallery view' to view and communicate with all breakout rooms without having to enter each room?
@NatHG3 жыл бұрын
@@PatriciaRegier Thanks for response! For teaching it would be ideal to be able to assign students to breakout rooms and have the option to see a gallery view for the students in their breakout rooms. This way the teacher we can keep an eye on the students while they work in the privacy of a breakout room . Unfortunately, Zoom does not seem to offer (or address) this.

Update: DIY solution: 1) Open multiple internet browsers 2) Join your own meeting in these browsers 3) Using the desktop app assign your new 'browser members' into each breakout room. 4) Display all browsers on one window and have visual and audio capabilities across all breakout rooms.

@@PatriciaRegier Yes, so it is a way to see what is happening in all Breakout rooms but only using one device. While also being able to remain in the Main Room. Little bit of effort but a handy work around.

Have you tried out the new options now with breakouts? It's fantastic that you can not only send a message but talk into all the rooms at once. Plus you can see if people are on their mics or cameras. It's a bit more insight.

NB: Everybody follows the host view, unless they are following on a tablet or phone. Only Mac and Windows will see what you see.

Work around when broadcasting to people on Android: Set up your screen as she describes and then go full screen. Then share your Zoom screen. (You need to activate "Show Zoom windows during screen share" in Settings. There are three places you have to activate in order to do this: Admin > Account Management > Account Settings > Meeting (Basic); then in Personal > Settings > In Meeting (Basic); and finally in the Share options on your Zoom window.)
