One issue you’ll face with zoom is resolution. You will see your content (camera, lower thirds, slides, etc) in OBS looking great but when you get them into Zoom through the virtual camera, the resolution is bad. This is because Zoom does not support HD 1080p video at the moment, due to the pandemic. So keep that in mind.
@gtopher4 жыл бұрын
that was my question also. its ok when I direct present, but through OBS its fuzzy and useless. I reached out to Zoom support, but obviously nothing. You say "due to the pandemic", does that mean they have announced something?

I’m agree , the video resolution very bad from another participant, also when you open power point from obs to zoom 🤣

The OBS Studio information was really interesting but the stated premise of the video was a little misleading because the most important thing you did to enhance your video and audio quality involved buying a video camera, big light, and headphones with a good quality built-in mic, all of which are definitely not free, and probably overkill for the basic video conferencing that I and others like me do.

Requires that you have both OBS Studio and Zoom running at same time. There was no advantage of using OBS with Zoom unless you want to enhance your Zoom recording. Stick with regular Zoom settings. OBS Studio and Streamlabs OBS is for people who want to get their stuff "creative videos" on Twitch, You Tube or some other website. However, if you have a DSLR / EOS mirrorless camera such as Canon M50 or SONY A6000 with a RODE microphone or other mic., then using the Guide that Tom Antos provided will make a difference for beginners with more expensive equipment. I tried enhancing the use of my Logitech BRIO 4K webcam using this guide and it did not produce a better teleconferencing experience or any difference than using Zoom by itself. However, Tom does deserve credit as there is some benefit to watching and following this guide/ tutorial. Thank you! and be safe.

Is OBS only useful for recording a presentation for Zoom, or can it be used to enhance the look and sound of live interactions during Zoom? From you introduction about frustrating low-quality tele-fitness classes, it seemed like the latter, but then it morphed into "How to record a presentation" for Zoom.
@aurora.studio014 жыл бұрын
I think you should rewatch it bcause it's not about recording a presentation. I get it. It seem a little bit confusing.
@charliebell50733 жыл бұрын
You often use the phrase "your presentation" which leads a viewer to think that you're describing how to prepare a recorded presentation. Is it more accurate to say that OBS gives you the means of creating and controlling an "environment" that can be used for broadcasting, live streaming and videoconferencing? One of the biggest problems I've faced is the distracting lag between audio and video. Can OBS help minimize the lag?

I would like to add a few thoughts here because I have been troubleshooting zoom to get the best quality possible for a webinar series I'm working on. A lot of these videos on YT that recommend using a DSLR or Mirrorless as a webcam are failing to discuss a very key issue. They are showing a high quality video on their YT video but that is recorded on their desktop. Zoom compresses videos and the quality drops substantially to the viewer to the point where a cheap webcam is almost as good if not better than an expensive camera because its not losing as much detail in compression. You want your file size coming out of your camera to be as low as possible to require the least amount of compression as far as I can tell. I shot DX crop mode at 1080p 24fps and the quality was still garbage. Your best shot for quality on zoom is probably to get a M43 camera that can shoot 720.
@oneiropagides3424 жыл бұрын
True. OBS & your camera output 1080 but zoom transmits video at 720. So, not great. If you are doing a webinar, I recommend trying to bring OBS into Zoom through screen sharing instead of virtual camera. What happens is that Zoom transmits people’s web cam video feeds at 720 BUT, if you share content through desktop sharing, that content is transmitted in full HD 1080! So, you can use this for a workaround and adopt a different approach: Step 1: In OBS use the projector function to project your program to a second screen. Basically, this outputs the same content you’d get through virtual camera to one of your screens in HD quality. Step 2: In Zoom, deactivate your camera and start sharing your desktop. When you get to choose which screen you want to share, choose the screen where OBS is projecting your content. Your Zoom participants will now see your content in HD 1080 instead of 720. Of course, this is a workaround, and there are drawbacks. You will need to be screen-sharing the whole time, and one of your monitors will be constantly occupied by the OBS projection. But depending on your circumstances, it might be workable.
