The VSTi has to support MPE for this to work polyphonically. Otherwise it will just pitch bend all the notes that play at the same time together.

Good point. Now I'm kind of curious what (modern) VSTis DON'T support MPE. So far, the only one I've tried where this didn't work was the original version of z3ta+.

In my experience, most don't. Roli keep a pretty up-to-date list. support.roli.com/support/solutions/articles/36000037202-compatible-synths-daws-and-instruments

I'm not sure how complete that list is. I've used this method successfully with Thorn, z3ta+ 2, and Rapture Pro, none of which were on that last. Moral of the story: it doesn't hurt to try.

Rapture Pro must already support MPE because it doesn't work this easily with any other VST that doesn't already support MPE natively. Usually you have to have a separate instance of the VST for every MIDI channel... and that sucks :)

EDIT: Don't read this I'm just utterly stupid --- Looks like the "Device" tab is gone in Bitwig Studio 3.1 But where do I go in order to get my MPE VSTs to work?

It's still there for me, at least in the Windows version - I'm using 3.2 beta 5. Try clicking on the the left title bar of the device down in the device pane to select it.
