Good tips, but should have explained that you can vacuumn to waste, so algae doesn' t have to go through filter.
@jenniferb55403 жыл бұрын
If it’s weekly routine cleaning, that isn’t always necessary. Regular filter setting with a quick backwash after is fine.
@nellyburris29924 ай бұрын
True, I tried it and it works great. One thing though.. fill the pool up to almost the top of skimmer and while doing the vacuuming run water into the pool because water leaves faster than it comes in

Do you have to change the sand filter to waste?
@zagerspoolspa4 жыл бұрын
We recommend vacuuming to waste if your pool is extremely dirty or has a lot of debris (ex., right after you open it) or if you have algae. Otherwise, you can filter the water back into the pool through the return. Keep in mind that if you do vacuum to waste, you may lose a lot of water and will need to refill with a garden hose.

What setting does the pump need to me on while doing this?
@zagerspoolspa4 жыл бұрын
The pump just need to be on. Are you referring to the filter? If yes, what kind do you have? Sand, DE or Cartridge?

With a sand filter, is it in any particular setting?

When I’m vacuuming what do I turn my filter to when I’m ready to start? I feel like I’ve tried all options and it’s not working :(
@zagerspoolspa4 жыл бұрын
If there is just a normal amount of debris in your pool, you would just leave your filter on the normal 'filter' position. This way any dirt that is vacuumed will run through your filter and the water will return to the pool.

Do you have to turn the pump off before putting the lid into vacuum mode? It says to do that on the lid I have but doesn’t seem like you mentioned it here

Help please. I have been cleaning my pool without any problems for 26 years until I had to change my vacuum hose last year. Now I cant' have the water to stay in the hose. I put the end on the return to get rid of the air and get water in it. I put my hand on the plate and quickly put the plate in the skimmer as I always did. But now it takes about 5 to 10 seconds and the pump is sucking air. And there is no succion by the head. What am I doing wrong? I never had that problem before. My hose is brand new from the store. And I noticed that the water does not come to the top of the pump. It goes to about one inch below the top of the basket which is quite unusual I think. Thanks

Do you have good pressure coming out of your return? If yes, this would rule out a pump issue. This would leave the possibility of losing pressure via your vac hose, adaptors or vac head. It's not uncommon for a new hose to have pinholes - it is a common manufacturer defect. Otherwise, you may want to check your vac head and ensure there are no cracks that may be letting air in that is preventing good suction. Hope this helps!

@@zagerspoolspa Hello and thanks for your help. I finally found out what was going wrong. The last time I sent my pump for a tune-up the guy put a o'ring too big in the cover of my pump. It was hard to put it in as it always making a little loop. I ordered the proper part on line and the problem is now solved. Can you tell me the best lubricant for pool parts. Are vaseline or plumber grease good enough? Thanks again.
@zagerspoolspa2 жыл бұрын
@@andreab919 We recommend using a product called Lube Tube that is Teflon based. Vaseline will actually deteriorate the rubber gasket.

What do I put my filter on if my pool is really really dirty?
@zagerspoolspa3 жыл бұрын
Your filter can be set to “Waste” or "Drain." This setting will bypass the filter and your extra dirty water will drain to your yard or sewage system to prevent your filter from getting clogged with debris. You will likely need to add fresh water to your pool when done to ensure your water level is restored (halfway up your skimmer).
