It is also important to note that Berkshire own about 25% of American Express, 15% of BAC, 5% of Apple, and 10% of Coke, 4 of the largest companies in the world that provide a steady income for them. We are taking roughly 1.5B in dividends each year + that they own sizable amount of great businesses like Moodys

Add that BRK does buyback and Apple also does buybacks so passively that 5% ownership in Apple grows and your % ownership in BRK also grows.

I bought at 267, it’s my largest holding (~20%). I think of it as a value investing etf with no expense ratio. Made sure to buy around Warren Buffett’s fair value (~275 as indicated by buybacks). Investing at its easiest.

Berkshire is almost always an amazing buy. Even if its a bit expensive, the moat, safety, and incredible management that comes along with the company justifies the price.

@@h.b.9694 Ted and Tod are amazing investors with a great track record of outperforming the S&P500. They shy away from the public eye, but know the company inside and out. Buffett and Munger wouldn't ever leave the company in the hands of investors that don't align with their own philosophies.

Berkshire is an etf with no fees that matches or outperforms the s&p500.

Note that GDP is not growing at 2%, but at 9% in nominal terms and thus, a business growing at "GDP * 2 = 4%" is actually growing much slower than the economy overall, since corporate revenues are subject to inflation.

Sorry if I wasn't more clear, I was making a point on their operating growth over a multi-year perspective being around 2x GDP (i.e. growing around 5% when GDP this past decade was closer to 2%).

@@unrivaled GDP over the past decade was not 2%, but around 5%. 2% is the real growth rate, 5% the nominal one. So any business growing less than 5% was becoming smaller relative to GDP.

You're right!! Thanks for calling out. So Berkshires operations are more like 1-1.5x US nominal GDP (5-6% vs. ~4-5% for GDP). It really is a bet on US economy and Berkshire's ability to stay relevant and pass through inflation overtime. Here's nominal growth for US GDP: fred.stlouisfed.org/series/GDP
