My grandfather has pictures of a 108lb lingcod cought off Nanaimo, BC. I wish there were big fish around like that these days

What specs rod were you using or can you recommend a good bottom fishing rod? I tend to target 50 to 120 feet of water.

I always use mono. I’m not a big fluorocarbon fan.

We can only have 3 hooks where I fish. I usually have two shrimp flies or other hooks on my dropper, so I can only use one hook on my jig

In that video we are using the Daiwa Proteus WN 76HF. Great rod, but very heavy. Another great option with great power but a lot lighter is the EDGE HLR 7630-1

I purchase the bat jigs pre made. I just ad the Owner Hyper wire split ring and hooks myself.

Rookie question: Why the treble hook on the dropper weight? Won’t that just increase bottom snags?

@@TheJtlandrum Great question. It does but we also get a better hook up ratio when we are aggressively jigging. Its a fast aggressive bite that is not as precise as a bait bite. If we were to be bait fishing I would say a single hook would be the way to go.
