What do you think of this technique? Do you know of a better method?
@TheInformedCitizen11 ай бұрын
I asked felt a long time ago nearly 3 or 4 months ago about how we can use Felt maps for adobe After effects or do they have any plug in like geo layers 3 they told they have not thought about it but after few days later they hired you for map making so i think they made their best decision to help us the content creators who love to make map animations.

Not exactly a better method, but you could get it all on one layer if you add a Stroke effect to the text layer. Nice one Boone!

I'm trying to animate a path using this technique, and it's not creating a keyframe or showing the movement of the path/vertices when i force a keyframe. Any ideas?

U r a treasure for alot of people. Please don't hide content in patreon.i know you can make money with it but doing it on yt really helps amateurs like me who likes maps to learn and expand our knowledge. And are too poor to pay super expensive patreon. As we r from poor countries.

There is another semi-related thing I have always wondered about, which is linking two (and ideally more) polygons to each other. Say I have a yellow polygon and a blue polygon. Can I make it so that some of their respective points are matched to points of the other, so that if I move a specific point in the yellow polygon, I move the respectively-matched point in the blue polygon - and vice-versa? Thanks as always for your hard work.
@BooneLovesVideo11 ай бұрын
Pretty sure you can do that, but not entirely sure how. I'd have to play with the polygons and see.

Top content as always 🔥 Would the patreon video have the changing of colors of the map when the frontline moves? For instance you move the frontline to some portion of the invaded country and you paint that part of the country that's invaded in a different color via another layer or in some other way.
@BooneLovesVideo11 ай бұрын
Yes indeed, I can do that. I'll get into working with closed paths, and how you can use those as mattes to achieve what you're describing.

Can we draw train route between two train stations for specific train??
@BooneLovesVideo11 ай бұрын
I would suggest using Overpass turbo or Felt to get it isolated, and then export from there and import into GEOlayers 3. Train routes are actually quite complex.

Is it possible to make lord of the rings type of maps with geolayers or would you make them another way?

Indeed you could stylize your basemap in GEOlayers and then create your own elements. It's just time consuming, but possible.

How do i get specific data on geolayers, for example the great wall of china? i think its not on there, and im totally clueless on how to get it 🤯
@bastianrivero11 ай бұрын
my only guess for now is putting a google image with the map of the china wall on top and reduce transparency and draw the path the best i can

I'm sure that exists somewhere as a data file. Maybe Google the keywords with geojson or shp.

Hi Boone, have you seen any of the war maps made by 'mapsinanutshell'? Would you know how to do this in After Effects? If I had to guess, I'd say it looks like he's using 2 layers, a blue invaded layer and a red invading layer above consisting of multiple shapes with their strokes set to Multiply mode: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5mnh5luatFpnbs I can't figure out how he animates the encirclements of armies. I've asked him but haven't heard back. How would you do this?
