I'm a stylist at an Aveda salon and if you love the Pure Abundance Style Prep, you'll probably love the Volumizing Tonic as well! I use it with both the PA prep and Thickening Tonic and it works great with them and gives great grit and texture. Plus it smells amazing.

This also works with hot rollers! I put them in hot, let them cool, then do this pin curl technique as I take them out and wait till all the way cold. Definitely the best way! There's a reason women always used to pin their curls! Hot rollers can be tricky but once you get used to them it's faster than an iron.

I knew I should have included this! But I loosely twirl my hair into a bun on the very top of my head and clip it into place with a claw clip. The curls soften up a little over night (which I love), but sometimes I'll re-curl the pieces around my face if needed. :)

I highly recommend the curling iron from Kristan Ess! They're sold at Target. They're a little pricier than Conair, but I found that my hair didn't glide well through my Conair so I upgraded and haven't looked back!

So I need some help. I dyed my hair with blonde highlights at a salon but I didn’t like the way they did them. They made them not subtle enough so I went and bough box dye. That completely failed though and I missed so many spots so now my highlights are spotty and there are random patches of blonde. By the way, my natural hair is brownish black. Do you have any suggestion of what I could do? Any hairstyles to cover those areas up? And do you think those blonde spots will fade over time?

fzn have you tried a curl butter? It looks like body butter but it’s actually for curls. They usually send it in the ethnic hair sections of stores. If you use curl gels they can be a little more drying/sticky and your particular hair may need something like a butter because it’s more moisturizing and less sticky.

I bought both the volumizing tonic and the style-prep spray from Aveda after seeing this (I got travel sizes to try them out). I definitely feel like the volumizing tonic does its job, which I am really happy about because I got such thin hair. However, I am not sure the style-prep is doing anything for me - I think I'd rather add the volumizing tonic to my crown/roots too, as I now got volume anywhere but the crown/roots where I applied the style-prep spray instead. The one thing I am not too happy about is the smell of the sprays - to me, they smell like something you would get a pharmacy. A bit like foot cream, maybe?
@AlexGaboury5 жыл бұрын
Julia! I am so happy to hear you’re liking the products and they’re working for your hair. That’s so interesting because out of the two I see the most results from the Style Prep! I’m going to try and apply the Volumizing Tonic to my roots next time and see how the results compare. Also, love how you described the scent haha, they’re definitely more on the natural smelling side of things. Thank again for sharing.

I can do such nice hair but tell me one thing- how to make it last more than 1h? My hair góra flat and sadly Hanging no matter what i do! Nothing even if i curl them all night and use tones or just a bit of hairspray, foams, texturisesrs nothing. Nothing helps... before I get to work I look like wet dog licked by a cow 😢😢😢
@sailorgrlie5 жыл бұрын
The key is letting it cool for as long as possible, pinned up if you can like she did. Your curl isn't set when it's warm. Heating it up makes your hair flexible so that it can be shaped into a curl, but if you let it down it will just straighten out with gravity. Letting it cool is the only way to get it to stay.
@naugler195 жыл бұрын
Carolina Reaper i’m guessing your hair has never been coloured before? Sometimes people with very healthy never lightened or coloured hair have a very hard time holding curls. Try getting a full head of highlights done. You should see an improvement in how long your curls will last. Also try clarifying shampoo, your hair may have a mineral buildup on it. And another tip use little to no conditioner, that also can help with curls lasting longer
