Where can we buy this adapter plate?
@AntenainaLand Жыл бұрын
I bought a Golf mk3 VR6 rear beam today with the stub axle and break carrier, no brake calipers, no disc brakes, no inner & outer bearing, etc... (I'll mount it on my mk2 Golf btw) Next to it I found a Polo mk3 GTI (6N2) rear suspension with just the brake calipers missing. As I looked closely, it's the version where you can bolt on directly a brake carrier without a need for an adapter like you use. I think the OEM numbers are 6N0 501 117 and 6N0 501 118. Do you think it will bolt on the mk3 rear beam? if so, which disc brakes & caliper & carrier combination will work on it? I'll buy it next time if so. Or I'll just bet on it and buy it and will look for disc/caliper/carrier combination later 😂and share here the results (might take some time though)

@AntenainaLand3 ай бұрын
@@ceciliosalmeron2371 there are offset differences so you can't put mk4 r32 rear discs and calipers like he does. However you can fit Polo 6N2 gti stub axles with Polo 9n hub & bearing to get 5x100 since the 6N2 are 4x100. Beware of brake discs since there are two types 232mm and 230mm with different offset (9n and mk4 ones are pretty similar). you need the 232mm one (1JE 615 601 or Ate 24.0109-0174.1 409174). You can reuse the 6n2 brake carriers (maybe the mk2/mk3 ones too but I can't say). You can use the mk4 brake calipers with corresponding mk4 brake cable + adaptation. Those are in-depth investigations I've done about this topic at that time. I didn't try fitting them yet since I paused the project and didn't buy the polo 9n brakes & hub + bearing + mk4 brake discs, but I've bought the polo 6N2 gti stub axles with brake carriers though. But I spent quite some time making calculation of the brake discs sizes and offset on ATE website and I came to those conclusions. TL;DR you need to double check my claims

With 312's it wouldn't be too different over a std mk4 platform cars running 312 front and 256 rear, it become's more of an issue on lighter cars like at the rear of mk2's with no ABS and people not setting and adjusting the rear bias valve spring tension on the rear beam right. On this mk3.5 with 312 front, 256 rear, ABS and a half decent set of 205 tyres brake so so well.
