I love ACC. I actually use it in some 30MPH villages that are on otherwise 60MPH roads. Set it to 30MPH and you don't have to worry about speed cameras, and with your foot hovering over the brake, you actually have a faster reaction time if someone runs out into the road. It's also great for any average speed camera section, so you don't have to stress about not going over the limit.

Collected my wife's 2019 Golf GTD (replacing her 2011 GTD) today and this and your other videos are so very welcome as browsing the online manual was somewhat confusing and likely damaging my brain. The additional functions and features in the new car are considerable and mighty impressive. Btw the old car was close to 100,000 miles and still a delight to drive but she really deserves the replacement. Dealer mentioned that the cam belt replacement interval advice has changed significantly. Was around 40,000 miles so need to research that. Thanks again Mike for the time and effort involved in providing the videos.

adaptive lane guidance and acc is brilliant on my gtd, so relaxing driving on the motorway requires basically no input as the car drives itself, just have to be ready to step in if something gets complicated or if road markings get bad

ACC in the new golf is sublime, used a hire car for a week and after an hour of driving it was so nice, other than steering it basically did everything for me, great bit of kit and really well designed on the wheel

Very good video, super well explained. Really appreciate the effort you've put into making this video. I've got both a 1.4si mk6 golf automatic and 1L TSI mk7 golf manual. Apart from chassis, handling and turbo improvements the two biggest differences are that the mk7 has adaptive cruise and heated seats so I'm just going keep my mk6 because its automatic! From your video I've realised that all fine tuning with ACC isn't for me and I do overtake quite alot on the super rare occurrence that I go on the motorway.

Class video Mike, I've had my GTD around 3 weeks now and I thought I could only adjust the ACC by 5mph at a time... I'm loving the GTD, why didn't I get one sooner.

Question Mike ..Do you have your foot off the accelerater pedal whilst driving?

Yes and I use the 1 & 5mph adjustments. I do use the gas to speed up if the ACC takes too long for my driving style :)

When you get in traffic and the car comes to a complete stop. Will it hold the brake for you or do you have to put your foot on the brake ?

I believe it does, but I haven't tried as I've read the car can leap forward when the car in front moves off. Also, I think the ACC disengages if stationery for over a minute. I prefer to manually brake and go.

Do all GTDs have ACC? Mine is 2014 and pretty basic spec - no heated seats, sat nav etc

I might be wrong, but I believe ACC was standard on SE and above from around 2012. I know of someone with a 2013 GTD with ACC as standard...

@@mikereports I would like to see how it works when coming off a motorway, is it just a matter of turning it off and doing things manually until you need to use it again?

@@davidbriggs4323 If you're coming off at a slip road to a roundabout behind another car it will match the speed of the car in front. If no car in front, I'll either slow it down using the 5mph rocker or turn it off and coast up to the roundabout/exit. Zooming towards a roundabout at 70mph, I sometimes end up braking anyway and that of course turns it off. Then I'm back to manual driving.

All Mk7 GTDs have ACC as standard. You own one, but you didn’t know it was fitted? The controls for it are right in front of you. Unless you bought the car yesterday, in which case it’s understandable, you must be really thick 😂
