Love the skunk. Thanks for the great videos. I remember every old river guide would be running one with their automatic reel while poling the boat. What are your thoughts on a downstream presentation for the skunk?
@alexlafkasfishingАй бұрын
Some of the old guys still do, the automatics have become hard to find though. I fish em downstream a lot, just decided to fish the small creek upstream that day

Great video, I really like the break down info on when and what to use.I'm gonna be hitting the Muskegon this October. Gonna be targeting Steelies, any good local guide style fies you could recommend?

Thanks Dean. Itll all probably be an egg thing at that point so I'd just try random colors no one uses. The only Eggs I use to run were rags and ive had the best luck onlight blue with a chart center and light purple with a fucia core that's also up here. There will probably be a ton of salmon spawning going so that's why I'm saying eggs. If u can't get bit, just go smaller

@alexlafkasfly-fishing9088 Thanks as always and I haven't tried the different colors. So I'll tie a bunch up! I will let you know how they do,! It's so cool to get some advise from a local guide!!!! You,are the best!!!

Yet again,nailed it,your simplistic straight forward approach is why I enjoy watching your videos,good simple understandable information & a simple fly,just having fun on the water & hoping to catch fish,1 question what's your go to Rod & what size/weight ? 🤙🇺🇸
@alexlafkasfishingАй бұрын
Thanks David. I tend to lean towards a 9' 6wt. A five would cover about 75% of my typical trout stuff but I do like having a bit more rod to fish bigger hoppers, hex and 4in streamers and wets
@BeardedfurflingerАй бұрын
@alexlafkasfly-fishing9088 thanks lean on a 9' 5 weight for 90 % of mine,go to a 10' 7 weight when needed

I could survive trout fishing skipping a size. 4, 6, 8 or 5, 7, 9
