I’ve never watched a lot of models and runways before, the most I’ve really seen are the VS fashion shows and Miami swim week on tv where they have quite a bit of bounce in their step and a lot of hip swaying. I was at roosevelt field mall once where they had a mini fashion show and the models walked with so much grace i was blown away. It looked like their feet were floating across the floor. I’ve never seen anyone make walking look that gorgeous. When I think of the runway walk I immediately think of that now.

Naomi and other supermodels are natural when they do that but when others do it it seems like they will dislocate some joints. Also I think it depends on the situation, because sometime swaying can take the attention off the clothes.

@itspau_u99174 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's different. Pageant walks are usually energetic that comes with live movements while in Runways or models, they have to look and walk really fierce and very direct because they have to showcase the clothes without it being outshined by their own faces. : )

There will always be a bit of sway in your hips when you are walking, because of how your feet must position themselves in order to maintain your balance. The key is not to EXAGGERATE it so much that it distracts from the garment on your torso. Just my 2 cents as an animator.

I was a real high fashion model that modeled Paris Haute Couture and the reason you are not supposed to smile is because the fashion designer wants the model to look sophisticated and smiling doesn't emote that look. Everyone is not trying to look approachable and friendly in life, thats something the patriarchy has conditioned women to do. Like my Mom said, men want women to look friendly and approachable like a smiling truck stop whore LOL.

People are saying this walk is weird: YES. Because it's not a 'walking to class' or 'strolling about your average day' walk. It's not intended to look natural. Models are taught to walk this way to show off whatever product they're trying to sell. Their walk isn't about their body, it's about what they're wearing/displaying. So yes, it looks weird. Because it's intended to.

When she said don't sway your hips, I was like if you watch professional models they sway their hips to also keep their balance so I'm confused.

I remember watching this in a modelling workshop years ago. It clearly stated that we shouldn't sway our hips and I didn't, but I got punished 😂

“Don’t sway your hips” is the worst advice in this tutorial. Sway your hips! Like the quintessential models have always done! Put the woman back into the runway and own the clothes! Don’t be just a walking clothes hanger!
@aleyafirzana47534 жыл бұрын
It's not always like that. It usually depends on how a person is built. She looks thin and. Swaying her hips will make it look bad. You can say that to a person who has bigger butt but if they don't, it will make them look bad. The way the model in the video walk suits her. It makes her walk look natural and doesn't take the attention away from her outfit

Most designers use the models as "walking clothes hangers" though. They are showing people how the clothes look and fit. It's kind of the point...
@elio71144 жыл бұрын
designers don’t put models on the runways just to put tall and attractive people on the runway. they put them there to make the CLOTHES themselves look good. when you’re a runway model, you sell the clothes, you do not put yourself before the designer’s work. every piece has it’s own personality and vibe; as a model you need to be able to project that to the people watching.

Umm no, just no. Models are indeed walking clothes hanger lol, the type you see that confidently sway their hips are during Victoria Secret fashion shows where they have more freedom to move their body.

How to walk like a model # start with a good foundation # be comfortable in heels # good posture is key and don't slouch # make sure to keep your shoulder back and straight # keep head straight and focus your gaze. # let your arms sway naturally and keep arms delicate # don't sway your hips # at the end of the runway square up and keep it clean. # status confident and natural # practice often

I don't understand why people say it's ugly or unhealthy to be so skinny, I think everyone is beautiful in their own way and being skinny has nothing to do with being unhealthy! I bet you look gorgeous and yes you should be confident!
