I love the way you say 'it's not going to be picture perfect from the start' I hate it when I get on my horse and feel the pressure immediately to make her look great in front of people. I know it takes her 20 mins or so to really become light and trainable and that's fine, she's 16 now so won't be so agile just like me ! 😂

@lucky17zeta Brave and real riders 'ride through the ugly'. You ride for your horse, not for the onlookers (most of whom do not understand riding in the first place). Those who really know the riding will love to watch you take your time.

Zo hey! Bedankt mannen! Many thanks and keep up the goodwork!!! 🥇🙌🏻

I think it's very good that you made this video because the warming up is often underestimate. When I was still riding and competing I watched so many people get on their horse and either started with very short reigns and pulling the horses head back (without considering their back or hind legs) the "famous" Dutch expression "geen gelul in de krul!"... Or they just walked around with no contact at all and after 5-10 minutes wanted the horse to flip a switch and start working without any warning.. I regularly got comments or questions on why I always took so much time warning up... I don't think that taking 15 till 20 min depending on the day is that long and always responded with the comment "because if you would go to the gym for a fitness training and someone pushed you to start right away or didn't guide you properly... How would that make you feel both physically and mentally? Because even if you believe a horse is just a horse and should be able to do it that way doesn't make that true or fair... I would rather have a partnership than a dictatorship so we both can enjoy the ride and keep on learning from and with each other.. It may take a few minutes longer in the beginning but it will save you a lot of time down the road...

you say that the ideal situation is to have the horse's neck stretched with the nose in front if the vertical, then why do you show your horse during the entire ride so extremely far behind the vertical with no mention of this being undesirable, nor do you make any effort to address this issue?
@Begijnhoeve_official3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your comment. Indeed it’s not good enough at that point. But if you listen to te beginning of the video i thought that I mention that with this horse it was back than really difficult because she is so extremely sensitive. There for I choose to show not only the perfect picture. However I also think that people in general totally forget to look at the horses needs for that moment. To me it’s more important in this stage that my horse is relaxed en she can position her head how she feel most comfortable. And if you follow the scala Der ausbildung you see that first priority is regularity than relaxation and than the position. And with some horses is just easier than others but I find it not correct to forse my horse in a position where they find it difficult and this case it was not easy to do it as we wanted. But I did practice and hopefully it is better now 😇

@@Begijnhoeve_official l appreciate your honesty and good intentions and l really found helpful for everyone an honest and "clean" video rather than a fake one. I understand that overbending at poll could be just a step, but in that way l am not sure the horse it's really relaxed and stretched. I am agree with you that in this way you keep her oversensitivity and spoke under control, but still the horse it's under the vertical. Don't get me wrong, I am not criticizing your work, l am agree with most. But not sure that the beautiful mare you're riding has a true relaxation. Yess the scale of training say rythm and relaxation but if you take off the double bridles the overbending is she still relaxed? Please take it like an honest exchange of ideas and knowledge. Enjoy your work.

Dutchpetra that's a good point.

When the horse has yielded as far as it can, the horse is forced to break between the 2nd and 3rd vertebrae. This stresses the ligaments around the withers and interrupts the longdissimus back muscles. Also You don't speak of using your seat for aiding. You speak of the reins and the leg only. I watch and enjoy your videos all the time and get a lot of good information but I do notice in this video these faults.
@ctimm542 жыл бұрын
He stated several times the mare was tense and wanting to run but instead of just shortening the reins to elevate her poll he wanted to allow her a longer rein to practice this important part of warming up. I’ve ridden horses easy to stretch and some hot tense ones want to curl up and run and you can’t get a proper stretch till they are through in their body at the end of a ride.

@Begijnhoeve_official4 жыл бұрын

I’ve seen a trainer do small circles.. you don’t restrict the movement by pulling, you turn a small circle which slows the horse down, and allow him to reach forward
@jaynfontain66355 ай бұрын
Your lovely horse is behind the vertical constantly and needs to go more forward from your leg to the hand. This a faulty work and you are breaking the horse down. Disappointing.
