How to wash a Spitz

How i wash Koda, my Japanese Spitz :)
Its a very long process but he only gets a bath twice a year so its not so bad!

The reason this breed is called American Eskimo in the US and Canada is because of World War I. The Spitz is originally from Germany, and perhaps for patriotic reasons, owners started referring to them as American Spitz and eventually the name American Eskimo evolved out of that. The name American Eskimo was officially recognized by the American United Kennel Club in 1919. I'm not sure of the history of the Japanese Spitz, but these are essentially the same breed. They both originate from Germany and pretty much follow the same breeding practices.

Hi! Ty the video, really helpful! What are your grooming tips? Eg brushing, shedding etc?

I brush Koda about once every 1-2 weeks using a slicker brush and metal comb mostly. Sometimes i will split it into days, brush his chest one day, stomach the next, other wise it wakes a while haha! With shedding you cant do an awful lot apart from brush them more regularly to take out all the loose and dead hair :)

what a beautifully well behaved pup! how much does Koda shed? I'm looking at getting a japanese spitz but my current dog doesnt shed at all so I'm not sure how well I would cope with lots of shedding (though I've heard that spitz are surprisingly easy to maintain)!

He doesnt shed too much, they have a big shed 1-2 times a year, luckily their fur comes off in clumps so its easy to pick up :)
