How to wash a Vera Bradley bag. Do Not Machine Wash a Vera Bradley

A very sad day for me! I watched a KZbin video where someone washed their Vera bags and I thought it would be great since I’ve never machine washed my bags. It ruined all of them. Do not machine wash these bags.

For older Vera Bradley bags the base is made of cardboard and it's to be removed prior to bag being washed. Newer versions of Vera Bradley bags the base is made of plastic and is not removable, so they're safe to be placed in washer.

I have always washed my Vera Bradley bags in cold water a cup of vinegar gentle cycle with no problem. However, I always check for the cardboard insert as most of them are removable.

Some bags are machine washable, but some are not. I had to contact customer service to see if mine were washable. I appreciate your video, because it made me ask the question.

Just remove the cardboard before washing.

I’ve machined washed AND machine dried (put both in the dryer)2 big Miller Bags. One was Chanticleer, the other Animal Jungle. These were older bags, both over 20 years old. I took out the cardboard and washed in cold water. THEY BOTH CAME OUT LOOKING BRAND NEW!!!

Turn your bag inside out and slid the cardboard out. It’s not sewn in, not in mine anyways.

The cardboard needs to be removed before washing. Never had a problem with that.

Please remove your cardboard first. There should be a little slip to pull it out. You can wash all Vera's cotton bags but I recommend cold, gentle cycle, and little soap. If you can't figure out how to remove and replace the cardboard or are worried, just spot clean it. I have ALWAYS washed mine in the machine. I guess Vera should better explain the washing options.

The color runs on them to! I have had that happen and you never know which ones will or won’t do it.

Yes. Some older Vera bags have cardboard that is removable. The newer ones now have plastic that you don't have to remove. BUT you can wash your bags just check for cardboard.

All Vera bags are machine washable. She just didn't know to remove the cardboard. The newer styles don't have cardboard anymore anyways.
