My most requested curly hair video! This is how I wash and style my curls and it's the fast version.
Check out my full post on www.hairromance.com/2016/05/wa... for a full explanation of the steps.
These are the products I used:
Hairdryer - bit.ly/1OUITXH
Yarok Curl Cream from Nourished Life - www.nourishedlife.com.au/hair... or Follain - bit.ly/1Vrh0xd
Taft Hair Gel - bit.ly/1qYARXP
Darshana Hair Oil - fave.co/1Wudp2h
I'd love to know what your curly routine is like and what products you love to use!

God, where were videos like this when I was a kid? Nobody ever taught me how to manage my curls realistically and this is the best. Second the notion on products for curly girls dealing with humidity.

I just want to let you know that this video has literally changed my life!! I have started using the clips and invested in a nice hairdryer with a diffuser as well. My hair has always been flat on top- the clips have totally changed that and I love the new look and all the compliments I've been getting. Thanks for helping me take my curly hair to the next level!

Thanks so much for this channel. My daughter's hair became curly when she got her period at age 12. She just turned 15 and we are stilling learning how to manage her curls. She usually loves the curls but there are days like today when she has to have a certain hairstyle for a dance that the curls are more difficult to deal with. I look forward to sharing your channel with her.

Lovely and informative video. For those who find themselves "distracted" by the hair brush microphone...perhaps this video is too complicated for you if your attention span is so erratic that you are unable to concentrate on what she is saying. Good heavens I can't believe people would actually complain about that. Silly people.

Thanks for these tips, I always had very long hair but as I've gotten older, I'm 28 currently, I've noticed my hair becoming more and more "wavy", and frizz has always been a problem. I very recently cut my hair to about the length of yours, I washed it and let it air dry without brushing and later walked into the bathroom to a very curly surprise! My hair length was weighing down my apparent natural curls, so trying to learn how to style and care for my "new" hair led me to find your videos! Great info and demo, thanks!

Love the video and the instructions. Especially liked the brush microphone :) I've been trying CGM for the past 2 weeks and it's so time consuming. Plus my scalp is itchy now and never was before. I love your drying with the t-shirt as opposed to plopping. I think I need to invest in a nice hair dryer with a diffuser since my hair takes over an hour to dry naturally.

Hi Christina! Great video! I have been a reader of your blog for the last two years and I've always wondered how you styled your hair. Your curl is amazing! With this video, you gave me some ideas on what I can do to my own hair. Your blog inspired me to embrace my curly hair. For 10-15 years I have been straightening my hair and I got tired of spending 30-45 minutes styling on my hair. Your post on the curly girl method (Devacurl) had me rushing out and buying new products and embracing my curl. After 15 years, I have finally fallen in love with my curl. So thank you! I have been using either Devacurl No Poo with One Condition or Jessie Curls Gentle Lather with Daily Aloeba to cleanse my hair. Then I use Jessie Curls Gelebration and Rockin Ringlets with Madonna & Co Miracle Gel (you NEED to look into that gel... yours curls with that gel would look amazing). When my hair is semi dry I use Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie. I have NEVER seen my hair so curly before. Cheers!

Wow! I did this for the first time tonight and I'm shocked at the difference. I've never really known what I'm supposed to do to style my curly hair and it would always get so frizzy. I loved the wave and texture it had but never knew how to define it without at least an hour of hands on work. I used garnier curl defining cream and some herbal essence wave enhancing mousse instead of hair gel and the results are astonishing. I'll be doing this every time I wash my hair now. Thank you so much for this tutorial!!

Hi Christina! As always, I loved your video and you showing how versatile curly hair can be. I think it would be interesting to watch a video about no product/ no heat styling. I was hoping to find an easier way to get my curly hair done with little frizz lots of volume and there just isn't we gotta work at this ;) I use pretty much exact method but when i air dry i scrunch it all up in a a super light airy hair net - - works great for doing your hair Sunday afternoon and leaving in hair net until morning - the combination of the net holding up the weight of the ends along with the curl clip pins on top gives the best volume - then in the morning i take it all out and release the gel shell like you - thanks for t shirt tip that should help me some!!!! I did go ahead and subscribe and give you a thumbs up too loved your video

I tried your wash and style for curly hair routine last night and I'm beyond thrilled!!! I'm in my young 60's and all these years that I've been getting haircuts, no one and I repeat no one has ever shown/ or discussed with me how to do something similar to this technique!! I probably got good haircuts all along, but when at home I'd layer product after product (too flat - add more mouse, then too crunchy - add some serum...to be flat again until the next washing!! My ends are somewhat dry and recently my hairdresser convinced my to cut off more than 4 inches from the bottom which later on I was very upset about. Maybe just adding a lot more conditioner, as you did, wasn't necessary to cut all that off. I have to say it didn't take me very long to do the complete routine (clips on top of head and then blow drying with a diffuser gave me nice height that I never had before). I've always asked my hairdresser to cut the back of my hair, on top, shorter because it too was always flat and straight in relationship to the sides, but by putting in clips there as well, it also came out amazing!! I can't tell you enough how informative this video was for me and that you really made my day/days!!! Do you have a video about dos and don'ts for curly haircuts? Thank you so much!!!!! And you're adorable.

I have to wash my hair 3-4 times a week. How are you able to only wash yours once a week? Also, how do you sleep without waking up with your curls a frizzy mess?

Curly hair is naturally dry and doesn't get oily or greasy.

my hair is quite dry and now coloured so I don't need to wash it as often. You can stretch it out with dry shampoo. Your hair can adjust too so that it doesn't need to be washed as often. At night, I sleep with my hair clpped up. I should do a video on that x

+Olivia Taylor.. my hair is shorter so can't clip in up.. I use one of those satin bonnets (which isn't necessarily attractive , but I'm single, LOL) or a silk or satin pillowcase, and that actually really helps. In the am I just use a spray bottle of water and my fingers and I'm good to go. I noticed a HUGE difference when I stopped using anything with silicones in it (which is everything now). I was about to cut all my hair, like pixie cut. I thought my curls were gone. Turned out even the Shampoo I was using had silicone in it, it was coating my hair and weighing in down. Soon as I ditched that stuff, but curls bounced back,, I wash my hair every 4 or 5 days, ave... maybe a week, depends.. But for me, and many I from silicone products coat the hair and build up, making it feel dirty, look dull and yukky!

Loved your video..do you use only CG only products or also with sulphates and silicones? My neck gets strained whenever I squish or try to use hair dryer to diffuse and later resulting in neck pain and headache. Is there any other way doing CG without straining the neck?

My hair type is 3 a. Exactly likes yours. S curls. All I use is a light leave in conditioner. Then when my hair is dry, I spray a little shine spray on the ends only (same thing as shine serum, but in spray form and hard to find). I just dont like product in my hair like gels, mousse or other goopy things. My texture is baby fine, but a lot of it. I can blow dry without a diffuser and it doesn't get frizzy. If I'm going the extra mile, I'll take individual outside strands and wrap them around a low setting curling iron (275f) Know your hair type first, before doing anything else. The chart can easily be googled. Great video. I can't even count how many times bottles have fallen from my hands because I had stuff on them. Lol

love this tutorial and your hair looks very pretty and healthy! My hair suddenly went curly when I was 13. Since then I have used mousse and a diffuser every day but I actually find the diffusing quite a lot of work and now I'm jealous of my younger self with easy straight hair. But when I don't use a diffuser I lack volume quite a lot. Has your hair been curly al your life?
@Hairromance
@Hairromance 7 жыл бұрын
my hair sounds really similar to yours! I had straight hair that turned curly too. I agree that curls can be a bit more work but overall it's worth it. I have gone through phases where I straightened my hair all the time and wrecked my curls. Then I took care of them and brought them back to life. I still straighten occasionally but I let my hair do what it likes :) I get more volume with a diffuser too. Try the clips when you next airdry your hair as that might help. Also once your hair is dry, give your roots a shake like I do at the end for a little volume boost xx
