Also I looked for a long time to find the best and safest method to clean the engine bay and came upon a study done by a chemist who was also a car guy about Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. It is amazing and completely safe on all of your electronics, no worries with covering alternator etc. Let it set for 15 minutes and hose it off and it will eat through almost any grime. My Evo engine bay is clean enough to eat on.

I've power washed my entire engine bay several times. There isn't really too many things that can't get wet under the hood. I've done it at home a few times, but it's best to do it at a car wash so you don't get all that oil & grease all over ur driveway. One thing I do is put Dielectric grease in the back/wire side of all my exposed connectors so that water doesn't get inside them & short shit out. Evo 8/9 owners shud especially be well aware of the connector box in the driver's side kick panel! Water runs down the wire harness in the fender and through the grommet continuing down the harness & gets inside the plastic box/connector housing and eventually shorts out the entire car... I had to cut & hardwire all of those wires & when I did, I caked on the Dielectric grease! Anyways, you can be pretty tough when cleaning the engine bay!

here in Poland any evo is at least 6 times the price of decent MX-3, I've never seen integra in real life and gt86 / wrx are in another world for me :P I know there are better and younger cars but I just like looks of MX-3 I can get it relatively cheap cuz they are not as popular as e36, golf III or civic and when I will start to look for another daily I can convert it for "race car" cuz you can swap it for 2.5 KL ZE from xedos. And for last few months insurance here in Poland is fucking clownfiesta (in some situations its going 300% up) Thanks for concern tho :D

if you want to clean your throttle body and internal turn the car on and put a hose down into the intake and water it while revving for 7000rpm. Don't do it its a joke lol

I have a 2002 lancer, not Evo :(, but I had oil in the same place as you and I had broken crank and camshaft seals, hope that help you trying to figure out why there's oil there

unfortunately no, USDM aluminum foil has too much weight and will dip once applied, causing it to get caught between alternator fins, creating short within the system. It will burn down the car on initial start.

If oil gets on it..... he might wish he had a cover over it. The manufacturers spent a ton of extra money (if you multiply the cost of the cover and the number of cars they made) to put that cover there. But... It's not important. Wait until the timing jumps (or should I say slip?). So many people think they don't need little heat shields, covers, etc. They aren't engineers and that's why I don't buy used cars!
