The main reason why this is a significant thing for us. Is because if we watch older videos from back in the day. We can use our CRT Filters and make them look awesome like how we remember!

I was so sure you were gonna start showing some shaders hahaha but well if your audience knows retroarch they're immediately aware of the possibilities this opens up. Good concise tip, as always great video thanks!

Would be even better if it had some of the basic things a modern video player has such as shuffling videos, the option to loop a video etc.

a really good way to watch 80's and 90's stuff via a CRT as second screen (or a with the MBZ shader) by the way 😉

Can you enable CRT shaders for the video player? Would be cool for 80s/90s TV content.

You can.

But can you play SD videos with it, then apply shaders? Gimme some SD Robocop through a CRT filter :)
@cookieface804 ай бұрын
Yeah you can. Applying shaders works the same way it does for games.

pretty cool. Is there a way to utilize a dvd drive to watch dvd's through retroarch?
@RetroCrisis4 ай бұрын
I'm not too sure. I assume as long as the video isn't encrypted I guess it should be fine....hopefully
@cookieface804 ай бұрын
You could maybe just rip the video off of the disc and then play the resulting video file. Use MakeMKV and Handbreak.

Hmm... this could be a very cool way to get a single interface for playing all games and movies/TV with minimal effort. The biggest lift would probably be the front end - adding cover art for every movie and show. There's got to be a scraper of some kind? I know there are plugins to use RA inside of Kodi, but for the inverse? Also, how does it handle downsampling or HDR->SDR tone mapping? The mind races...

Have you tried Shaderglass? It comes with retroarch shaders and you can apply it to whatever is on screen

CRT shaders are a perfect fir for modern anime (far too clean for my taste) or those old mp4 files having compression artifacts. I'm gonna watch me some Black Adder episodes on RetroArch now.

Have you tried the WindowCast core?

Wasn't aware of that core, thanks. I've used Shaderglass or Reshade on Win10, Vkbasalt on linux.
