Stretching the image is a lot better tbh. You can do it on samsung internet browser thanks to their dedicated video player

I was expecting some genius solution but logically I knew it couldn't do it without stretching. I personally prefer watching 16:9 with the black bars than a distorted version of the video.

At least with video games the arms and all the other information will be moved accordingly when cropping off the top and bottom. However I agree 4:3 is better if your not getting to see more left and right.

KZbin videos can be very disappointing when they are presented in 21:9 but appear on my widescreen with black bars all around. The in between publicity however comes in 21:9 full screen. I believe it's the way the video's have been uploaded. Isn't there any extra program for Macbook users so we can watch videos the way we want to?

I have a 49" DQHD Monitor. I use Ultrawifify extension for Chrome (I couldn't get it to work on the new Chromium version of Edge). It works with Amazon Prime. Install the extension and use Keyboard Shortcuts 'Z' and 'U' to Zoom in and out. 'E' Fits height and 'W' Fits to Width and ''D' switches to 21:9

Watching movies you get black bars too on a normal monitor. It is more important to watch videos in the correct aspect ratio and without loosing any aspect of the video.

I need the exact opposite. Sick of watching occasional 21:9 content on 16:10 where over 30% of my screen is wasted and everything is shrunk so hard (1440p down to 810 pixels height) I can hardly make out things. And, of course, for a browser (=Firefox).

Yes, but you can download an alternative called 'Zoom to Fill - Ultrawide video' which does exactly the same. Also don't forget to look into the extension settings if you want to enable F9 as a hotkey to enable/disable ultrawide mode

@@Sayhoun uBlock Origin is far better than Adblocker. Also, make sure to turn on DNS adblocker from your router (if it has one) or do a DIY job like that suggested by Network Chuck to remove ads (though that's a bit involved - you'll need a Raspberry Pi and do some work on your router settings).

This works great. Sadly, at 48:9 (16:3), you lose around 70% of the information on the vertical plain. But i didn't expect any better than that tbh.

This never used be an issue for me, and then one day the black bars appeared everywhere - in KZbin videos, in my Google Slides presentations. I think maybe my screen size (13.5) has something to do with it, but it is annoying that I once never had this problem, and now it's there all the time

For me it works fine removing horizontal black bars. It has expanded the image to full screen above and below, without deformation. Otherwise it expanded the image to the correct aspect.

I’m having the same issue but I don’t understand why my KZbin app on my TV doesn’t have black bars. Or when I Watch a movie file on a thumb drive when I plug it directly into my TV but if I do the same movie on my PC to the very same TV it has the bars. Same goes for Netflix. It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s SD, 1080P, 4K, or HDR. Another weird thing is some SD movies work perfectly fine. Any help would be immensely appreciated!!!
