Actually, I am searching for explanation for why 1:1 ratio becomes popular nowadays especially in social medias. The closest I find it is because Instagram in early days force you to upload videos and pics in 1:1 ratio and I think that's why it becomes popular. Video with 1:1 usually has caption in the top and bottom of the video.

if you watch it full screen you can see the black space on both sides but if you watch it in normal window , there is no black space. YT allowed it somehow idk how you can do this
@CamberFilmSchool4 жыл бұрын
I watched initially on my computer, and it had the pillar boxes regardless of how I watched. But I'm assuming you're watching from your phone because I switched to my phone and can now see how it fills the whole screen when the phone is upright and has the pillar boxes when I turn it. I'm guessing it's a 1:1 aspect ratio because what happens is that the black space is automatically generated by the viewer depending on how you have your screen rotated. If the person put 1:1 footage in a 16:9 timeline, then it would have the black space regardless of how you watched. But if you actually set the timeline to 1:1 (3840x3840 for 4K or 1920x1920 for FHD) then it will only have the black space automatically generated by your video player when you watch on a widescreen view.
@ProdBySXCK4 жыл бұрын
@@CamberFilmSchool I hear you. Thanks a lot for looking it out for me. 💯% agreed. But my question is when you watch it on your PC in normal view (without full screen) and you see there is white empty space around the video. That is unclickable part. When you watch it in full screen, that white unclickable part becomes black part and you can click on it and pause it too. I tried uploading the video in same way but YT automatically creates a white part for me which is clickable and a part of my video. In this case of this video it's something that YT maybe missed it or it's a different concept. I hope you're getting me. I want to upload a video like that

The nice thing about longer screens on newer some newer phones like the note 9 (my new fav phone) is that either there is black edges for things that don't fit the full long screen in full screen or it is like in netflix were it is croped to fit but not super croped in which is fine for me and I think that is nice instead of things being streached which would look not as good to me. You could also go into split screen mode on note 9s which I think I'd cool sometimes. Yes Aspect Ratio is the size of the screen and resolution is the quality. Thanks for the video.

There are three different options for KZbin video sizes when watching. There’s the default, theater mode, and full screen. What about 2:1? For me it's the best compromise of all. Not overly exaggerated in width while keeping a fair amount of vertical content . I've been adopting it for some years now. I shoot in 3:4 and then crop 2:1 in post. Adding to this, in 16:9 displays the resulting horizontal black bars are also significantly reduced, which produces a very comfortable viewing experience. I find it odd that this AR is very rarely considered mentioned in literature. I wonder why. What do you think?

Hey, Manny. Yea, that can definitely be a pain to do. For the 14 people, I think you'd need to do about 275x78 to get 7 even boxes across the top and 7 on the bottom. I'm not sure how you'd do it with 19 because you can divide that evenly.

If you were to ask me how I figured out, I could not tell you but a little bit of your box prespective helped me. I'll be happy to send you a final picture of it. Vertical video shows that the cameraman is inept. Every time I see any youtube video shot that way I yell at the monitor, "Idiot, hold the phone horizontally, you fool". If two videos of the same historic event show up in a newsroom, one vertical and the other horizontal, which one do you think is going on air? Here's a clue, the correct answer starts with the letter "H". This is so far from rocket science, that what can you say. Maybe we need TVs that auto-rotate. @CamberFilmSchool4 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you want to deliver the video. Vertical video isn't really the best aspect ratio to use for KZbin. What I see a lot of people do is put the clip in a 16:9 project. Leave the video in vertical mode and make a copy of it. Set the copy as the background and expand it so that it fills the whole 16:9 screen. Then add a blur to it. That way you still have your vertical video look the way you filmed it and also have it blurred out in the background instead of just black bars. Otherwise just upload it straight 9:16 for a vertical format.

One thing to keep in mind with this is that you need to make sure to use the right size depending on what resolution (1080p or 4K) or else it won't work right. The other way is to actually set your project dimensions to 21:9 (2520x1080) for HD and resize your clips in editing.

I need 16:11 because my ipad screen isn’t your typical display but for me i have to watch videos with black bars at the bottom of them and if i use the browser and zoom in with the feature then i lose the edges of the video..... 😑😑😑😑 I know that aspect ratio doesent exist but i searched up just now and my ipad aspect ratio is meant to be 4:3?..... what.
@CamberFilmSchool4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 16:11 is just about the same as 4:3.

I have a question. I always record videos on my iPhone holding the phone vertically and I didn't know thats what the image was gonna look like even when I hold my iPhone horizontally. Now those black walls on the side are always there and looks really ugly. is there any way to convert that to 16:9 without cutting any parts of the video?
@CamberFilmSchool Жыл бұрын
No there isn’t. You have to record horizontally if you want to fill the whole screen at 16:9

@@CamberFilmSchool I was afraid of that but at least I know how to do it right. Great videos by the way. Explains everything well and thank you for answering back dude it’s cool. Most people here don’t answer. Thanks 👍😎
@CamberFilmSchool Жыл бұрын
No problem! 👍 The only way I’ve ever seen to not have the black bars is to make a copy of your footage and put in on the bottom layer. Then enlarge it to fill the entire screen and put a blur on it. Your original footage will still only be the normal vertical video, but the sides at least won’t be black. Hope that helps
@CFernandoC Жыл бұрын
@@CamberFilmSchool Def do that rather than have those black walls. 👍🏻

No mention of 16:10? I'm trying to figure out between 16:9 and 16:10 for projector screen to watch movies.
@CamberFilmSchool3 жыл бұрын
I’d go with 16:9 because 16:10 isn’t really going to do much of any difference for you.

Please look slightly below the aperture of the camera. Doing so prevents your light source bouncing into the camera; it also makes the viewer more comfortable.

Great video - question - I used my Iphone 13 to shoot video clips. I brought them into a video editing program. It wanted me to choose 4:3 or 16:9. I didn't know what to choose. I uploaded it to KZbin and it had black bars on the top and bottom of the video. So what did I do wrong? Please help. Thank you so much - John

Sounds like the phone records wider than 16:9 so it automatically sized itself to fit the entire image in 16:9 leaving black bars on top & bottom. What editing software?

What the word "units" should mean? Why arent they using 1.78:1 but 16:9 instead.Aren't they identical?
@CamberFilmSchool5 жыл бұрын
GLaDiS 2015, units means “unit of measurement.” Because you could measure by pixels, or inches, or anything. Its just a ratio. Yes, 1.78:1 and 16:9 are identical. They are just different ways of saying the same thing. If you divide 16 by 9, you’ll end up with 1.77777778.
@distar74715 жыл бұрын
Anyone is free to disagree all they want but - - - 16:10 / 8:5 will forever be on top for me. Edit: Also 18:9 is just 2:1. It was definitely tested somewhere in the past. But I have yet to see content / media feature it.
@CamberFilmSchool5 жыл бұрын
Cool! I just started using 18:9 recently for my KZbin videos since it fills more of the screen on smartphones. 19.5:9 actually stretches to the ends of the screen on the new iPhones, but KZbin doesn't recognize that aspect ratio and won't allow you to use all the video features like end screens and cards.

I have a question why non of this works to fix vertical video? and how can I fix it?
@CamberFilmSchool4 жыл бұрын
By fixing vertical video, do you mean making it horizontal? If so, that's because you'd have to rotate it which would make all of your footage sideways. You could stretch it, but that would make it look very warped. The last option is to zoom in really far which would cut off most of the top and bottom of your video and make it pretty grainy. You have to make sure you choose the aspect ratio and orientation of your video before you start recording.
