Thank you for posting this video. It is very informative and has helped me to bloom a catesetum for the first time.

I live in Brazil, and there are many Catasetum species in tropical and subtropical areas in South America.

Hi Augustin, Catasetums are such wonderful orchids, so graceful and beautiful. I find they grow quite easily once you know what they want. I'm glad the video helped, and thanks for commenting.

Critical information, thank you! What are your thoughts on using zeolite rocks on the bottom layer, or in potting media in general? Edit : I have a " Black Pearl " that hubby bought for me at least a year ago. Not knowing, I made the mistake of repotting it when I shouldn't have and I think I messed up its cycles. I live in central Florida and on 4-11 it's going into dormancy. Your repotting video will be helpful also when the time comes, I'll try to do this right this time!

I have several of these orchids. I have followed your advice and have good results. I do have a question. What is the sticky sap that develops on the under side of the leaves? Some of my catasetums have a lot of this sticky sap.
@Orchideria3 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate it. The sap is exactly that, sticky sap. It is a good sign because your orchid is healthy and has so much hydration and nutrients that it doesn't need anything more. I made a video about happy sap that might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXReJeXrLOmoLc In any case, you don't need to worry about it. It does attract ants, though.
