I've had, but youknow, it can go two ways. This is a Scotsman that is in his undies for a damn good reason and he also owns traditional weaponry. My experience was more of an; 'Awaaight, look at this beauty!' while the drunk Worms2-player holds up a bunch of Aliexpress throwing-knifes, and then threathens to shoot you with an airsoftgun, while you're watching Big Bang Theory and eat a bowl of cereal, which he then claims was 'just a joke.' Weapons are important and only need to be held in the right hands of people with no intention to harm someone. And weapons are interesting when they're being held by a knowledgeable and responsible bloke (optionally in his undies.) :)

For those who do not know, he is wearing a plaid. Plaid is a strip of wool used as a kilt and often slung over the should etc as demonstrated in the video. The plaid has a tartan pattern. Plaid is often referred to as the pattern on the fabric but that is incorrect. The cloth is called a plaid and the pattern is tartan.

Hence the old saying, “the whole nine yards.” Way to go! I’m so glad I have friends who share their heritage with me. Thank you so much for the video!
@scottneil1187 Жыл бұрын
The whole nine yards has nothing to do with the kilt, it's origin is American and is only just over a century old, nobody knows it's full true origin but nowhere does it mention kilts in any way shape or form. The plaid itself is 4-5 yards too so no idea where he got that nonsense from.

One day a fair lass came up to Andythehighlander. Being a bit shy, she was blushing. So Andy asked her, "Why are ye' rosie cheeked, lass?" "Well, I've always wondered what was worn under the kilt?" she replied. "Ach! Nothing is worn. It's all in perfect working order." was Andy's quick response. Favorite weapon? Basket hilt broadsword. I had to carry a real Claymore in a parade once and don't want to carry a beastie like that again. Thanks, Andy. Lot's of fine memories of hand folding, adjusting, tucking and then heading out into 100F/39C+ degree temperatures in 7 yards of wool. (I live in Arizona) But it was worth it.

But whenever I’m in a more social setting like parties and birthdays or when there’s kids around I opt to wear a pair of boxers. The same is true for really windy and cold days. In those occasions I put on a pir of merino wool boxer briefs. Also, you don’t have to wash your kilt as often when wearing underwear.

Sadly it's not a common thing. Although you see plenty of kilts in Summer (wedding season) the majority of kilts are not made or formed this way they are pre-made and handed down, rented or bought for a small fortune in kilt shops. They are also worn mid knee. Are tied at the side with leather buckle straps and secured with a pin at the front. high socks, sporran, shirt waistcoat dress military style jacket and dress shoes and tie are all part of the outfit It looks incredibly smart. The highlander said why don’t you stick your hand down there and find out. She put her hand under his kilt and cried it’s so grewsome! Did you also hear about the Scotsman who was roaring drunk and on his way home from the pub on Saturday night pitched onto the side of the road and passed out. A woman passed him on her way to church on Sunday morning and seeing him exposed took a blue ribbon from her hair and wound it around his genitals to hide them. Some hours later when the fellow awoke and saw her handiwork he smiled and said "Laddie, I don't know where you've been but I'm sure glad to see you took first prize!"

Well a Scotsman clad in kilt left the bar one evening fair, and one could tell by how he walked that he'd drunk more than his share. He fumbled 'round until he could no longer keep his feet, then he stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street. About that time two young and lovely girls came tappin' by, and one says to the other, with a twinkle in her eye, "See that sleeping Scotsman, so strong and handsome built? I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath the kilt..."
@TheCptCoy5 жыл бұрын
They snuck up on that sleeping Scotsman quiet as could be, and lifted up his kilt about an inch so they could see, and THERE BEHOLD FOR THEM TO VIEW BENEATH HIS SCOTTISH SKIRT was nothing more than God had graced him with upon his birth They marveled for a moment, then one said "We must be gone. Let's leave a present for our friend, before we move along. As a gift they left a blue silk ribbon tied into a bow, around the body part the Scot's kilt did lift and show.
@TheCptCoy5 жыл бұрын
The Scotsman woke to natures call and stumbled towards the trees, behind a bush, he lifts his kilt and gawks at what he sees, and in a startled voice, he says to what's before his eyes "Lad, I don't know where you've been but I see you've won first prize!"

I've noticed quite a few questions about the yardage required for a great kilt. I'm sure Andy will correct me if I'm wrong, so here goes. The hand looms that the tartan was woven on produced cloth about 30" wide. The nine yards of tartan was cut in half, and the halves were sewn together to produce a tartan 4 1/2 yards long by 60" wide. Modern looms produce cloth 60" wide, so 9 yards of modern tartan is enough for 2 kilts.Since I stand 6' 10", I've considered producing a 120" wide kilt. Also, when asked what I wear beneath the kilt, I tell them to look for themselves.... My Boots!

I’m from the Middle East, but I’m really fascinated by the Scottish customs, clothing, weapons, traditions, and their highland games! Also, the early arab Muslims used to ware what is called “izar”, similar to the plaid, but thinner fabric due to the harsh weather, especially in the Arabian peninsula. They used to ware it with out pants too, before and after Islam( true Arab don’t ware pants I guess lol). Thanks for the recommendation YT, and thank you noble gentleman for the video. 🙏🏻

@miked4152 Жыл бұрын
@@sosolin100 the Outlander tartan is a tartan thats from the TV show Outlander which that tartan was stolen from a different family tartan and colors were changed to make the Outlander version. He has his own tartan im sure but it's not the Outlander one that he's wearing in the video. The Outlander tartan is only as old as the series. Where as his personal tart is probably as old as his family line im guessing.

If you want a women’s version, try an arisaid! It’s longer and worn over the dress, that’s pretty much the only difference
@Chris____.2 жыл бұрын
Just like mustache_man said, the Earasaid is literally a "1 for 1 copy" with the slight difference of being slightly longer just to cover the legs more, its honestly a wonderful clothing piece to try on, especially because of how easy it is to do. (literally just buy a nice fabric + belt at any store, or be an adventuring soul and use a curtain like another comment said... cant guarantee is works!)

They wore by men and also has " codes" the way we wore them . if its above your knees it means you're single and if you covered your knee means you're married. we wore them on special occasion like on weddings, national day and festive sessions. thank for sharing your culture it's really educational .
